On that year it was not icy but the snow levels were very low. I understand that particular run in the video is the longest of their groomed runs and it had been just opened due to large amounts of artificial snow coverage on it (I think the run is 800 m long). Overall the resort slopes are steep in the advanced runs. Comparable to Snowbird or Kicking Horse, but the run lengths are shorter than either. It is kind of interesting to ski at a higher than normal elevation. Check on the website of Ski Portillo for the status of the runs. I did not stay there as the resort facilities really need major remodel (the main comedor looked no different than a cafeteria) yet they seem extremely expensive. Instead I stayed in Santiago until the website said that it was opened for daily skiing. If you want to ski several days, I think you can get a much better deal if you stay near the resort in Los Andes. Road was OK. Of course if there is a huge dump you may not be able to reach the resort, but that is a risk. It is quite easy to rent a 4x4 at Santiago's airport. A warning: the car rental companies at Santiago airport generally do not give any good ski rack even though their website say that they have. We put the skis inside the 4x4 with the back sits folded.

@@bigjeffhonda Thanks for letting me know. I am sure there are some suicide places around. Generally looking for steep slopes without boulders ...

@@carlosmastrangelo5398 just know west wall is nearly 60 degrees over extreme exposure, it’s the wall to the left of the main apron on devils castle
