A look into what I bring in my pack on a winter day hike in the White Mountains! Making a winter hike comfortable, safe and enjoyable is really an art and took me years to really grasp what was really necessary to have on my body and in my pack.

Winter hiking! Join us as we hike Osceola and East Osceola in November. We were able to ascend Osceola via Tripoli Road as it had not closed yet (11/23/24). A fall hike on one of New Hampshire's best hikes. It runs about 10 miles on an out and back, with a total of 3,021 ft. elevation gain. The first 3 / 3.5 miles are flat and then you gradually begin to ascend. Though a seemingly long day when looking at it from a mileage perspective our total moving time was under 3.5 hours and total time on trail (stopping, time at summit) was 5.5 hours.

Gros Piton Hike, St. Lucia

Rigorous, yet beautiful hike on the island of St.Lucia. It took our group ~ 2.5 hours total and mapped just over 3 miles. There is an outlook (~0.4 miles in) where you can hike to and turnaround, as well as the 1/2 way point, which is fairly moderate hiking to those points. Mt Mansfield via Hellbrook Trail

Beautiful VT hike. We took Hellbrook to the Adams Apple Trail to Adams Apple. From there we jumped on Long Trail to Mt. Mansfield summit and over to the Upper Lip. We descended via Hassleton Trai. Total mileage clocked by Garmin was 7.06. Took slightly under 4.5 hours.

I tend to be an over-packer, but would rather carry something and never use it (need vs. safety) and have a slightly heavier pack. Thanks for watching!
Is Tumseh a good hike to do in the winter?
Most people say Tecumseh is a good winter hike. You’re protected in trees the whole way and the stone stairs are easier when covered in snow.
Yes! Many would argue winter hiking is actually easier if you have honed in your gear because the snow can make for an inclined (escalator) hike and less stepping up on rocks/roots.
