One of the most brilliant scenes in gaming

It's been over 16 years since I've first finished this game, and the line at 1:27 stills live in my mind. When I first heard it, it genuinely changed my brain chemistry. "Sorry you have to die today, I promise we'll change things soon." is such a perfect take down of Flynn's stupid naivety of the system he supports. If disobeying a system meant to protect people results in much less suffering and more people saved, then why the hell does it even exist? And the fact that Yuri is fully well aware of his crimes and doesn't try to justify them (or even need to) really helps to sell how much more experienced he is as the protagonist. He knows he's a criminal to the eyes of the law, but he's also knows that he's a hero to the people. I've played well over a hundred different RPGs in my life, but Tales of Vesperia's story still resonates with me the most to this day.

I don't recognize the outfit or the black and red that they talk about for Velvet in the last skit. Anyone know it? I also don't recognize the talking sword that was mentioned in that skit. As for the others, I think we've got Ludger from Xillia 2 for Rokurou, Natalia from Abyss for Eleanor, Richard from Graces for Phi, Hubert from Graces for Eizen, and Arche from Phantasia for Magilou.

Thought I find the "controlling mother" character obnoxious, i still think Hifumi's mother design is pretty nice, she looks almost regal, while Hifumi looks like generic schoolgirl number 5, the only difference its that she has a face... anyway, thanks for sharing, it saves me the trouble of actually having to play the game.

I think this scene best demonstrates the dynamic between Yuri and Flynn. Two childhood friends who want to improve the world, but have different methods of doing so. What I love Vesperia did was make Yuri and Flynn best friends but also complete opposites. -Yuri has long hair, Flynn has short hair -Flynn is right-handed, Yuri is left-handed -Yuri’s default outfit is street clothes in all dark colours while Flynn’s is armor with mainly bright colours -Flynn lives in the castle, Yuri lives in the lower quarter -Flynn prefers to work within the confides of the law, Yuri will break any laws necessary in order to help people -Flynn is more proper while Yuri is more laid back -Yuri is in a guild, Flynn is a member of the imperial knights -Flynn holds a shield in his other hand to protect himself, while Yuri would rather use his other hand as a means to fight -Flynn thought it would be best for Estelle to stay in the castle but Yuri thought it would be best for her to see the world

Its a simple but strong message, Flynn is right about how people should be punished in according with the laws but there's a ton of fundamental issues with said laws that people like Ragou and Cumore can get around so Yuri doing what he did was the only real way they'd face severe punishment, not a slap on the wrist. In a perfect world, none if this would be an issue but alas lol.

The only thing I did not like was when Yuri was fighting Estelle on his own. You kept passing up Fatal Strike opportunities. Otherwise I love the moment. It starts dark, turns sad during the solo fight with Estelle, and turns tears of joy happy when she's saved.

Hoi Den looks like she'd make a good queen for Evan.
