Thanks' John. I'm amazed there is still farmland. It's great to see everywhere I recognize. Alan Aus.
A lot of the UK is still farmland, but I have seen a lot being taken away. When I took off the two fields in front of the camera may not be there much longer.
Watching this on New Years Eve 2024/25. Thirty years later.
That was a pajero at the end. Must have been brand new. Like the carter's car.
Yeah, I'll go for a drink with ya. Simply having a wonderful Christmas time.
Hello to the cap in the next car.
Hello there in the other car!
Love the amber streetlamps.
Can't live - living without you...
Good fun and great billboards.
Glad you enjoyed it
I've no idea why this popped up in my recommendations, but when was Newbury Tech College knocked down??? I spent 4 years there learning stuff, had a great time.
Newbury College in West Berkshire, England moved into its current building in September 2002. The new place can be seen in the Monks Lane Newbury video or this link th-cam.com/video/uAj5wwNm5Gg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7aMFJPayruzS1HJQ
So much has changed. Thanks' John. Alan Aus.
and will keep on changing :(
I believe the western plot development has come to a standstill pending problems with the SAC of the river Lambourn nutrient and other drainage problems.
I did not know that. I will have to return to do an update.
Parkway floor it 🎉
I had a lil d reg blue fiesta with xr2 kit wheels seats lol
Cool music
Electric bike lije a peddle n pop
John into those tunes while cruising 😅
Yo can you make some thatcham driving vids m8
One of the best places to drive in the world.
That's a shock to see those houses being built on the farmland. A Aus.
A lot of it going on around the UK
Glad to see the Poplars in Stroud Green before their demise! Love your videos John! Gill
Thanks Gill
I used to walk over the railway bridge often when I lived in York Road. I felt as though I was driving. The lights could be better with some colour. Thanks' John. Living here in Aus. I appreciate your vlog, more than most. Alan.
As a joke I film the lights each year and it has not changed from year to year, much better in the 90's when the lights did have colour. Thank you, not many do appreciate my vlogs but the ones that do keep me going.
Hi John. Immediately opposite is Derwent Road I worked on that site in the 1970's. Henwick in the distance. Thanks for showing Alan Aus.
Derwent Road was built in the 1970's not sure how long the school has been there.
Thanks John, I have always enjoyed your shots of different areas of Newbury
Thank you Gill, I am going to do one a week in 2025 the plan is to work my way around Newbury and Thatcham and update any changes.
As Wash Common kids we used to climb on top of the garages at Skippon Close in the 70's & 80's 😂
@@MrMattw975 1980's we did the same.
@@johnrogers6705 I lived down Battle Road until I was 11 in 1982 & then moved to Falkland Road after that......but if we weren't up the common or the woods would end up cycling around the estate or go for adventures in Penwood or The Chase. It was a great time & place to be a kid :)
@@MrMattw975 1982 I was 8, but when I got my Raleigh Burner in 1985 would also be cycling around the estate as far as Penwood or The Chase. Would go for miles and spend all day riding around. The hills was great fun going down but not so fun coming back home.
Nice one John I used to live in York Road opposite Newbury Laundry, long gone. It was nice to see the Allotments are still there. It's a shame they are removing the Poplar trees on Racecourse Road. Thanks' Alan Aus.
I remember it back then :) (only just)
Nice one John. It was nice to see Newbury & Crookham Golf Club where I used to play. Alan Aus.
So much has changed. Thanks' A Aus.
I like your videos
I live in Australia now so It was awesome to see dear old Newbury I was surprised to see the two story car park at Sainsbury's. Hopefully you can fly to other parts of Newbury. Keep it going Thanks' 👍
Thank you for the comment, Sainsbury's two story car park was built around 1994.
Great view Mr Rogers 👏👏👏
How is the job going?
The job is going very well Sir, it's been months now, but I am on nights, the whole of next week I'm on leave, planning to go to the city of London spending a night. I would like if you can suggest bed and breakfast or hotel I can use, thank you
@@mfanafuthingiba8232 I always use a Travelodge just because I know what I am getting. I am glad the job is going well, If you want to chat via facebook John Rogers in Newbury
🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤
Went past my home! Lol 😂
It looks just the same to me except the cinema was missing then. The shops have all moved about or closed down, e.g. Debenhams, Tandy and Woolworths.
Damn!!!
Wonderful happy days!! No cell phones!! Singing, laughing, celebrating. Who wouldn’t want to go back…
Yes, does feel like happier days back then.
On Christmas day 94 I was 3 days away from turning 12. Me and my brother got a Super Nintendo and a bunch of games that year.
can you do some more drone video of Colthrop Lane Thatcham please keep up with the good work 👍
I sure can, and thank you
@@johnrogers6705 great I be looking forward to Colthrop Lane Thatcham video can you do a afternoon And early evening video of it because they is a coach company and a truck company in one yard it would be nice to see the coach yard in afternoon and early evening ?
@@alexanderrowe2897 Do you know what the place is called?
@@johnrogers6705 it is near the River Kennet and next to Kennet Shutters & Blinds colthrop Lane
30 years ago in 94,for the first time, affordable mobile phones were made available to the masses, same year the National Lottery was launched.
In 94 I got my first mobile and played the lottery when launched.
1994 was also the year Tony Blair was elected Labour leader after John Smith died.
The cars make it look proper 90s! I was 12 years old in 1996
Love this!
Really interesting video. I live close by and use the field every day. Fascinating to see from a very different angle. Thank you for this.
Thank you. I will be going back as some point.
Where abouts is this mate can’t work it out where’s the nearest pub ? lol
The Woodspeen lol
I used to make that journey practically every work day from '93 to '95, when I worked at Panasonic.
Nice! @02:29 coming in fron the lower left - Queen's Court flats. I owned one of the studio apartments from '93 to '99.
Queens Court Flats I remember well, as a kid would deliver 30 Adviser papers there for 1p each. around '88-'89
C😎L! I lived in Newbury then :)
I was born in 1997 so too late to experience any of the 90s I wish I was born earlier.
My old home 1981-1991. Loved it then.
When London was pretty safe and fun.
It's actually safer now believe it or not.
I saw lots of muggings and violence in 90s London. Often in broad daylight, often in central London. It was never safer than it is now.
@Factz_over_emotions Let me guess, you're one of these, "The experts/the data/BBC news says..." people? Do you have any idea how easily statistics can be manipulated? In answer to your question: no, I *do not* believe it.
