Some positive angles on prospects within the electrical industry and things of the past which are not a revelation today but might be misunderstood by newer entrants to industry. We see exactly the same around EICRs like it is some new illness brought to industry. This has gone on for decades and ultimately we are the solution. Good advice/content Mark.
Good
I failed my last exam because my tester battery packed up halfway through and I totally lost myself. Fingers crossed for second go!
Hello, great video. I’m on level 2 full time course at college rn and was planning on doing my nvq portfolio whilst on level 3 as I can’t find any apprenticeships. If you or anyone else has any advice on this method please leave below. Thanks.
My problem is you can't fully test an AFDD Because the test equipment is not out there. And how reliable is an AFDD? As we can only test the rcbo side. One big can of worms with the AFDD days.
👌
Excellent and Informative Video!! TY

Great episode to finish the year out. I said I was going to listen to more of the Podcast this year and it’s been a valuable resource. Thanks again for all of you putting your time into these. Merry Christmas 🎄 🎅
👌
Just for clarification, level 4 city and guilds award design, it's no near HNC OR HND. The key word here (Award) only. The Units you have to study towards HNC or HND are way much harder and technical than level 4 award.
Having done them all (Mark here), I would disagree. In terms of the course element alone I would say fair enough. But the wider knowledge for the 2396 puts it right up there with the others. Have you done them all and speaking from your experience?
Why don’t all houses just have an earth rod and separate the neutral and earth.
Kudos Mark and everyone else involved to the support you have shown the industry
👍
Good evening gentlemen. Im a 53 yr old sparky with 35 years industry experience. I was about to pay £1200 for the 2391 course ,this was until I stumble totally by accident Jamie's advice about the prep begore going on the course. Nobody have ever given true sound advice unlike you guys . I would of wasted £1200 if it wasn't for you guys , Big sincere thanking for putting me on the right path 😊
my age is now 42. Can I do pls
i gave up on qualifying i did my 2365 2+3 now need to do the portfolio and no spark will touch me, sadly its apprentice trained or nothing i grafted my arse off and put 10 grand down for nothing
All to common sadly. A message training providers and industry to a point want to hide from
Not sure how to react on the information that become an outcome of this video.. For a people who are re-train and has a passion in electrical work , want to become qualified sparks and get a knowledge very slim chance to get their goal. Employer only wants a profit from your work and not contributing to anything else…
Employers have their own worries tbf. This is something for industry to solve and bring value towards.
very informative video
Fantastic video. I really like your discussion of the relevant articles in the regulations also. Thank you.
Fantastic video, Great insight to what’s happening or going to be happening in the electrical industry.
I’m looking at all my options atm if I want to go for level 3 apprenticeship in installation and maintenance (no prior experience) I’m assuming I need my level 2 first, what routes are available to take to acquire my level 2 and which is best to go down. Can I get funding for the course or do I have to pay for this privately? Could I start on level 2 domestic apprenticeship and then switch over to maintenance and installation once I’ve completed level 2 and ready to do level 3?
Maybe there should also be a move to ensure funding is dependent upon completion. Maybe that would ensure colleges and provides actually focus on delivery, equipment and so on to try and give all those enrolled have the best chance of achieving.
37:40 totally agree. I think the disparity of EAL / C&G rpl and apl and providers making people start again is totally down to grabbing as much funding
Just Passed my 2391-52. Done the 5 day course with a 1 day practical exam on the end. The theory was ok for me as I like to read up on electrical knowledge anyway and had a whole week to study for it. The practical however is killer !. Don’t underestimate the paperwork. I had to fill out an eic then an eicr with 2 sets of circuit details and test results. I was allowed a little bit of time at the end to complete the paperwork. Very stressful day
Don’t join this guys and don’t follow what they say They are scam
What scam Ibrahim? Are you okay? Feel free to explain
This is scam Don’t listen to Jamie He is scam guy
I am a Gold Card Electrician and I want to be registered with Napit I have my eal inspection and testing certificate 18th Ed and so on. The thing is that I'm working on big sites mainly doing 1st and 2nd fix price work. What are the steps that I need to follow? Mainly on the part of documentation and showing my Installations? Who can guide me on that part? Any info is appreciated...
Hello, I’m interested in viewing the video mentioned regarding the GS38, however, there isn’t a link in the description to take us to it (unless I’ve missed it), would you be so kind as to add it at your next available opportunity please? Many thanks in advance
Does the level 3 8202 cover part P or is that a separate course needed? Cheers
Almost 0 information, just moans about "how we need to improve the system" and "how important not to cheat doing ur portfolio". Don't waste your time. Better read a book.
Thanks for taking the time to feedback. This isn't in place of reading books. That's essential. I'm also working to help change the system. Along with moaning. Good luck with the portfolio and remember not to cheat through watching how to videos on the Internet
I just got my results through and got a Merit on the Exam. Was bloody hard but managed to navigate through it pretty well. Time to start the project now💪🏽
Any advice how to answer those questions from the exam?
Another good show team. I found it informative and thought/discussion provoking. Keep up the great work.
Well said Mark. Reflects my views perfectly.. similar background to you 👍
I sometimes see more than 3A on my earth cable. Lots of flats in our block.
👌
Kyle are u still a virgin???
Hi Guys, I've just purchased the software, and to be frank this ElectriclOM is really one of the best I've used and very user friendly. Your tutorialis clear and easy to understand. Keep up with the good work.
Came back to this after a conversation this week with a fellow QS around RFC continuity readings slightly outside the 0.05 continuity "rule of thumb". It's something that can often be applied with a little excess dogmatism for me and many engineering judgements come into assessing whether an obtained reading is as expected or not. Looking forward to hearing more opinions on these matters.
Mate that was very valuable. Im starting out now, iv'e just applied to niceic. Do you have mentoring programs?
I think people often forget that the RCD is often there for only additional protection. If the RCD doesn't function ADS and double insulation will still exist.
True. That said in my area many homes are TT and additional protection is not to be under valued.
A MASSIVE THANK YOU for all of the time dedication for creating videos like that!👍🏻Ive really enjoyed it.
From experience it's more like 'If it looks the same doesn't mean it tastes the same'
Hello Sir Thank you for your efforts so far.I work within the HVAC industries and through evening classes I have finished and passed L3 City and Guilds 8202 at College of North West London. I want to start a new career as an electrician but I do not have any construction installations experience at all. Please in short if could;clarify for me where to next after qualifying to L3 City and Guilds 8202!! Many thanks in advance
What about City and Guilds 8202...Iam an adult qualified with City and Guilds 8202 ..L3 Diploma..what next for me to become an electrician
