The term Durga in Sanskrit means ' a secured place '. Goddess Durga was created to destroy the evil demon Mahishasura. The trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva came together to create a powerful female form with ten arms. The gods gifted her their individual weapons along with blessings. Her name thus indicates her role as the one who protects her devotees and removes evil from the world.

This endeavor by Hridaypur Nandonik was to create a platform for array of budding dancers to upcoming professionals to internationally acclaimed exponents .More than 70 performers from different class9ical dance forms like Monipuri , Kathak,Bharatnatyam, and Odissi took part in this festival.Classical vocal and instrument were performed also.An art work exhibition by school students to commemorate the centinary of publication of AbolTabol was also organized. Eminent film maker Sri Sandip Ray was chief guest and other distinguished personalities were also present there in the event.Hridaypur Nandonik has decided to organize this festival every year in coming years to promote the rich cultural heritage of our country.
