Cefalonia, l’itaca di Omero: l’enigma risolto. Vagheggiata nei secoli da milioni di lettori dell’Odissea, l’isola d’Itaca non ha mai trovato una sua collocazione certa sulla carta geografica. Da Strabone fino a Schliemann e oltre, infatti, nessuno ha mai potuto provare che la piccola Itaca di oggi possa corrispondere all’antica, agognata patria di Ulisse. Nel tempo, ha invece guadagnato credito l’ipotesi che la vera Itaca, l’Itaca di Omero, vada piuttosto cercata nell’antistante isola maggiore, cioè a Cefalonia, centro naturale dell’arcipelago delle Ionie: tanto più che Ulisse stesso, discendente in via diretta del mitico Cefalo, viene chiamato nell’Iliade “re dei Cefalleni”. Just got back from Kefalonia. They've done an amazing job since the Medicane struck. Assos is almost back to it's beautiful self. As is the rest of this Stunning island.

Driven that road quite a few times - wonderful memories of lots of goats on the road near Assos, more than once !
