INGREDIENTS:
Ghosale / Ridge Gourd - 1 big size
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
Chopped onion - 1 medium size
Green chillies - 2
Water - ½ cup
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
Soaked toor dal - ¼ cup
Fresh grated coconut - ¼ cup
METHOD/PREPARATION
Step 1:
Wash and Soak toor dal for half an hour. Wash Ghosale / Ridge Gourd and peel outer skin with the help of peeler, chop Ghosale / Ridge Gourd and keep it aside.
Step 2:
In a kadai, heat oil. Add mustard seeds once mustard seeds started pop up, add green chillies and chopped onion, saute onion till translucent. add chopped Ghosale / Ridge Gourd, soaked toor dal, turmeric powder and mix well. add ½ cup of water and cover and cook for 15 minutes on low flame. after 10 minutes open the lid and add salt to taste and grated coconut. Mix well. cover and cook till bhaji and toor dal cooked properly or until water dries away.
Serve it for lunch thali or for dinner with chapati.
