Bobcat 440b Quick attach build for old v plow
มุมมอง 9784 ปีที่แล้ว
Fixing an old Dearborn V Plow and fabricating a quick attach plate for a mini Bobcat Skid Steer Loader. I am not a welder or fabricator, but I managed to stick a few pieces of metal together and push some snow! Video was created using GoPro App with music: Cold Pressure-28334 Steven Jeffries, PRS Atlantic Seven Music Library, PRS (5 Alarm Music - Atlantic 7)

First push with an old Dearborn V plow set up on my Bobcat 440B skid steer loader.
Splitting wood with 3 point log splitter
มุมมอง 2346 ปีที่แล้ว
Splitting some larger old hard maple pieces with my Ford tractor and 3 point log splitter. Normally I have the splitter set about waist high, but many of these pieces were larger than I could comfortably lift. I lowered the splitter to the ground with the three point so I could roll the wood up onto the splitter.
Stuck while pushing snow
มุมมอง 996 ปีที่แล้ว
I was pushing snow into piles in a ditch and got the left side of the machine over the edge as I was cleaning up. At first it was just the left front wheel, and I tried to use the pusher to get myself out, but after moving back and forth a little, I managed to slip the rear wheel in as well. All I could do was move forward and backward a couple feet - and it kept getting worse. Without the snow...
Bobcat 440b pushing snow
มุมมอง 1.5K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Pushing a couple inches of snow on December 15, 2017. Video speed was increased to keep the clip short, it was a cold night and it took a bit of running to get the skid steer warmed up to operating temp. I like the last view in the clip looking down on the snow pusher. Give a thumbs up - or comment below. Thanks for watching!
Bobcat 440b with HLA 1500 snow pusher
มุมมอง 7K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Pushing a couple more inches of fresh snow with the little Bobcat skid loader on a cold December morning. We missed the big snow that buried Erie in over 60 inches, and in total we only have about 10 inches from the same series of snow storms. The snow stayed near the lake and didn't push south far enough to give us anywhere near that amount of snow. I was just clearing out around the house and...
I have the same Bobcat, did you get the pusher with the steel or rubber edge? Would you recommend this pusher? Look like it is doing a great job. How is it connected to the Bobcat, Bob-tech or a custom thing? Still looking for the best way to enclose mine.
I got the pusher with the rubber edge. I have had it for several years now and I would recommend it. It is very well built, and aside from some wear on the metal skids on the sides of the box, I think it still looks like new. My 440b has a factory quick attach, but it is not like the standard skid steer quick attach today. It is the older bobtach quick attach. I have another video on here where I fabricated a plate to an old v-plow so I could hook up to it for deeper snow. As far as enclosing the cab, I cut plexi-glass for the top, back, and sides (used small self tap screws to hold in place) and purchased a vinyl door with hinges from Loader parts source. I absolutely recommend closing it in for snow plowing. The door keeps all that snow from coming in on your legs, and the engine and hydraulics give off enough heat to keep you comfortable.
My dad had a John Deer B in the early 50s❤
My tractor would have been brand new back then! It is a 1951.
@@stonyacres7389 Yes it would have been. My dad also had a John Deere A He farmed 500 acres of corn and beans with them. It was lots of fun sitting on the wheel cover when I was a little kid.❤️
@@BonnieJeanTlq Those are good memories! And 500 acres is some serious farming on these tractors - that is a lot of seat time operating them for sure! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Did it come set up with the older bobtach hook up?
It did. My local Bobcat dealer sells HLA attachments and I ordered it from them for the 440.
Whoopdie do. Learn how to use an electric one before you try to have your balls drop with a real saw. You shouldn't be playing with fire before you know how to use matches. Lmao
How did you attach this snow pusher to the 440B. I’m assuming you did your own fab or did you purchase adaptors?
My 440B came with a mini quick attach plate (as opposed to the pin on bucket), so I didn't have to fab anything up or use adapters. I do have a video posted where I fabricated a quick attach plate to an old Dearborn V plow to use on the same machine for the heavy, deeper snow.
@@stonyacres7389 do you have a social media page? I would like to chat with you if you are up to it. If not I understand. I really like that snow pusher setup and would like to adapt to my 440.
@@EllieRipley004 I'd be willing to chat with you, but unfortunately aside from TH-cam, I don't have any other social media accounts... Had a Twitter account years ago, and could probably set one up again. I've had that little Bobcat for about 23 years, bought that HLA snow pusher from my local Bobcat dealer about 4 or 5 years ago and it is MUCH better than using the bucket. I can't believe that I waited so long to get one (or that I waited so long to put a door on the thing).
Do you have an email or phone number you’d be willing to share. I’m sounding like a real creep but I am really curious if we have the same mounts on our machines.
@@EllieRipley004 Sure - my phone number is (814) 440-1955.
That is probably one of the smoothest sounding John Deere’s I’ve heard, how’d you set up the carb on there?, Thanks
Thank you! I can’t remember the settings on the needles offhand, but I think I took them in to touch, then backed off about a turn and a half. I’d have to check that. I had seen a video a fella posted to TH-cam, and he had a nickel standing on edge on one of these engines while it was running.
How wide is the pusher? 54” thanks
The pusher is 54" inside the box. The skids on the bottom of the pusher stick out a little, making it 57" from the outside the left skid to the outside of the right one. It does a very nice job!
Do you still have this old girl?
I do! I have some work to do on her now. I would like to change out the clutch plates, brakes, and I have to get into the PTO.
@@stonyacres7389 I had almost the exact same tractor! Except mine was a 49 model what year is yours?
@@rudycarlson8245 This one was built early in 1952 I think. There is another one tucked in that shed that was my dads, we picked it up in upstate New York, and it was in pretty bad shape... it was built in 1949. They are neat old tractors, and they sound good when you get a load on the engine and they lug down to pull.
I'd love to see more videos on the 440b. I'm thinking about buying one I found local to me in good shape. Not much information on what attachments are still available or how to hook them up.
I have a couple videos posted of this little 440b and we have found it to be a very useful machine. I believe some of the early bobcat 440’s were strictly pin on attachments, then they came up with that mini quick attach. I bought this machine used (one previous owner) with 300 hours on the meter. It had the quick attach feature, and in addition to the bucket the fella had a small dozer blade for it that he wouldn’t sell. A couple years ago I bought that snow pusher, then I had this V-blade idea and made up that plate to mount on the quick attach. The local Bobcat dealer got me a removable tooth bar for my bucket, which is helpful for digging. You don’t see many attachments out there, but they do exist! Guys talk down on this little skid loader, but I wouldn’t part with mine!
Can you put any mini attachments you want on the 440? I found one local to me I was thinking about pulling the trigger on.
I believe it is referred to as a mini quick attach plate, and I think it is basically the same as the mini attachments, but I am not sure if all the mini attachments are interchangeable. You will need to look close at the machine to see if the bucket is pinned straight on, or if the arms pin into an attachment plate. Some of the 440’s were sold without the quick attach. They are great machines though!
@@stonyacres7389 Okay that you for the advice I appreciate that, I'll have to look. I want to buy it and try to find a grapel bucket mainly for sections of trees and brush cleanup. Is yours the quick attach style? And where did you get your attachments like your snow push from if you don't mind me asking. Like a local dealer or did you by them used?
My 440b has the mini quick attach plate. I bought the snow pusher attachment from my local Bobcat Dealer, but they just ordered it from HLA. I made the quick attach plate for the V-plow so it would attach to the machine. If you are interested in a grapple bucket you will also have to make sure that the machine is plumbed for external hydraulics. My machine is not equipped with the external hydraulic plugs or the control valve to operate the grapples on a bucket. I believe that was also an option on the machines, as mine does have a bracket for the plugs on the one arm, but none of the components to make it work.
My grandpa built a splitter that we ran behind a 4440. I remember that rail road iron bowing as the ram came through the big hickory
That hickory is tough. We had to add supports to the beam on this splitter to get through knots on big old maple trees.
Ole Poppin John... I love the old B's.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Great Jonny Popper and vid, thanks for posting.
Thank you!
awesome little set up
Thank you!
Party because of this video I’m picking up a m371 today and plan on putting a 5 foot snow pusher on it
Very cool! I hope you like your new purchase. My dad and I bought this little 440B used just about 20 years ago, and my dad was in the thing for one reason or another almost every day. I bought the 54" HLA snow pusher for it two winters ago - and it arrived just in time for spring. Last winter was the first season that I really got to see how it performed, and it cut my plowing time down a lot compared to the 44" bucket. For winter we put plexiglass on the sides, top, and back of the machine, and two years ago I bought a vinyl/nylon fabric door for the front, which makes plowing so much nicer. We used to get out of the cab with knees so stiff you couldn't hardly walk, the door made a huge difference and I wish I would have gotten it long ago. One set of tire chains on the rear tires will help with the snow pusher too. I never felt that I needed them with the bucket, but they make quite a difference and give extra (much needed) traction with the volume of snow that accumulates in the snow pusher.
That's a nice little pusher!!
Thank you! I had to throw the bucket back on last weekend to clear out snow from the last two nor’easters. The first dropped about a foot of wet heavy stuff, and I didn’t plow figuring we were getting close to the end of the season, then we got another storm that just added to it. It was a bit much for the pusher to handle, but the bucket made short work of it.
