LOL, Not much to be told from such a comparison like this. There are so many variables involved as to be kinda worthless. Were I you, I would run sweeps of each for starters as well as waterfall plots. I would also do a run on the Alesis with the ports plugged. I have a pair of the M1 Active MK2 speakers (ports plugged) and for what they are I like them. I use the built in audio output on my old HP Z800 computer to feed them so, to be honest, far from optimal! I am truly surprised that the M1 Actives you have are still working. I have had to repair mine twice now and mine are much newer, like 2011. Good luck and have fun.

So this 100% worked for me. Strange fix, I'm not sure why I didn't try a similar fix to begin with but this worked. A couple of my drone shots I had to completely redo though. All of my camera shots were zoomed in so I had to back everything out to 34% on the scale. I was working on a 4k 60 frame timeline. I'm going to back this project up and hopefully if I close out I will not have to do this again. Oh well I guess! this is the first time this has happened to me.Thanks a ton!

SOLVED!! 10/14/24 IF YOUR external Hard drive is close to full the Audio during the export will go out!!! took me for ever so Delete have free GB space on whatever hard drive your exporting to!

This video was sooo helpful! I managed to get the media back on the timeline, but it is missing the audio...how do i get that back'?

Thanks Justin. One of my audio clips turned red in the browser this morning. Tried everything including rebooting the MacBook but nothing worked until I saw your video. Dragging the same clip from Finder into FCP somehow fixed it.

I have the HS4 s With a Kali ws6 Sub crossed over at 80hz I also have HS8 s in another room the Fours with the sub really is a great combo for a room less than 300 sqr ft I use it mainly for Guitar Amp Sims and Gaming plus Music .. Overall If you have the space and the cash go for the 8 ...With the SUB

Yes! You figured it out!! This has been happening to me on a few projects recently - in my case, I believe it has been due to issues with ejecting the external drive properly. Appreciate you sharing.

i like the alesis better, hs8 seem to have scooped mids. or hs5 with a sub would be better.

I use the HS5's with a sub. I get better translation than when I used the bigger Mackie HR824's... for whatever reason.

I have a 1080p sequence in premiere pro, that includes a number of 1080p HD mpeg-2 clips, and one standard DV AVI 4:3 clip, and when I export this to h.264 mp4, the resulting videos are most often interpreted as variable frame rate by MediaInfo despite the fact that all the clips in the timeline are reported as having Constant frame rates (29.97) by this same app. Strangely, in my experiments to try and resolve this, there were a few occasions when MediaInfo did interpret the exported mp4's as having a constant frame rate, but I have been unable to replicate that result. One thing for sure however, is that exporting a portion of the timeline that only includes the 1080p clips will result in the exported file having a constant frame rate, whereas exporting a segment that includes the Standard DV clip results in a Variable Frame Rate export. There seems to be no way to get Premiere to reproduce an export to h.264 of the entire timeline with a constant frame rate. Yet, if I export to MPEG-2 or even Avid's DNxHD the resulting videos will be Constant Frame Rate. I say this cautiously, because out of perhaps 15 exports to MPEG-2, a couple have shown to have variable frame rates. Can you offer any reasoning behind these bizarre and inconsistent results?

Put them on stands mate. Having them on a desk top is about the worst place you can have them...unwanted resonances, booming bass, and lots and lots of reflections. I'd recommend something like the Konig and Meyer stands but even the cheap stands with triangular bases will transform them.

It would have been nice if you used two mics for left and right to try and capture the stereo imaging better. It was very hard to really gauge the comparison between the direct raw, to the speakers, though the third in each triad (I assume the Alesis, as I'm totally blind), wins out at least from this simple example in my opinion.

Good comparison, but it is not only about speakers themself. Important is positioning in the room, Your studio room have to treated. The ALESIS M1 were more premium product in it's time...they still great.
