Moviemaking is my passion, my job, and basically my life, but somehow I'm still long ways before I can call myself a true moviemaker! From my first steps into the realm of Visual Effects, to hopefully my first ones as a Feature Film director, I am going to document every second possible of my journey, and share with you all what I learn in the process...If you are as passionate as I am, then get yourself ready, I'm planning to make this a growing experience for everyone! I'll see you around! Ciao for Now! - Federico

I’ll admit it, I don’t own a Sony A7III anymore, in fact it’s been a couple of months now, but I can’t deny the importance of that camera in my Arsenal. We had some good trips done together, and the camera offers sooo much it’s unbelievable for the price you can find it today. Fantastic work, Freddy! Yours looks exactly like the original lol! By far one of the most chilling shots and moments in the LOTR trilogy
Awesome job on this. Very well done.
Im a simple man. I see Nuke and i like. <3 Next time use Massive :D
Try the Balrog you shall not pass scene!!!
This is a dream of mine but it 's starting to feel like I'm too old to get started.
sadly in 2024 with all assets you buy, Lord of the rings still farely the best CG.
Brilliant. Love these contents. Started homemade VFX with Andrew Kramer 13 years ago (as many others out there did, I guess).
Wonderful! Truly inspiring to see, as I am a beginning VFX user myself. Magnificent, 10/10! Keep up the good, quality, work!
I could not disagree with you. Great job.🎉
Which shots are the blackmagic 6k?
This is insane!!! The only thing that bothered me a little (as a filmmaker, I'm not an animator) is that the color of the light on the face in the balcony feels too warm (of course it should be a little warm, but not that much)
The only thing that immediately stood out to me was that the white hand on the flags was VERY wrong. If you do end up going back to fix this, I would definitely put that high on my list. That's the only thing that majorly stood out to me. The rest of it looks nearly perfect, and putting yourself in the shot was an absolutely hilarious idea. This is the first of your videos that I've seen. Keep it up!
Wow that looked amazing! I think the biggest fix you could make, and an easy one, would just be to smoothen out the motion of the camera so it doesn't just abruptly stop it feels quite artificial. But if you had a gradual slowdown and maybe a little camera shake in there it would look perfect
Very nice, very talented, you are doing an amazing job, keep it up !!
I liked and followed immediately. This is amazing, keep it up! Very Excited for your next video <3
Pretty good, man! I just noticed that you have only 1k subs, should have more!
Epic
Fantastic video dude! Keep on making this and you'll grow in no time. Would love to see some NUKE tutorials from you.
its sooooooooo cool!!!
Incredible job Freddy! How can I get in contact with you? I have a project I think you'd be interested in :)
Love it. I feel like the thing that is usually missing in projects like this is some adjustment to the final export. Film grain and defects, halation, maybe some slight gate weave, etc. to really help press all the composited elements together and produce something that feels more organic. That could just be personal preference though. Really great job.
bro iv always thought the same, how is we can produce the most insane things we saw as a kid and now we can do it at home... its nuts
oh man, that final shot is just as good as the film.
This is incredible ! 🙌
Thank you so much !!🙏
Might've mistaken yours for the movie shot in the end. Really had to check which had Saruman. With a few more days of polish it would be identical.
Haha Thank you! Every once in a while i get an itch to polish it more, but it’ll have to wait for now!
Lots and lots of feedback coming through in the comments, but the truth is no one is making anything better than this in less than 48 hours, nice work Freddy! Looking forward to whatever you cook up next! 😍
Thank you so much, i really appreciate it. I gotta give it to them, a lot of the feedback was extremely valid, i’ll keep it and make good use of it for the next video!
The main note I have is the same as most modern 3D work. There's something about the camera moves/keyframes that are too... Generated. It's maybe too fast? Maybe too smooth? I don't know. Hope this helps. Love the video man. Keep up the strong work.
Thank you so much for your feedback! The camera is admittedly the one aspect i havent spent too much time on, and judging by the large feedback on it I underestimated its importance!
I actually prefer yours bro hahaha
Haha this one got me laughing out loud! Thank you so much, i really appreciate it
Lord of the Rings was a huge influence on me shooting my vampire series. Are you a full time VFX artist? I'd love to connect.
It’s hard not to be inspired by those movies and the craftsmanship behind it! Where can i see your vampire series? And yes, I am full time vfx artist who thinks its a good idea to do more vfx stuff after work :D
Do the shot from Terminator 2, where the T1000 slowly walks through the locked door with the metal bars, and his hand with the gun gets stuck. Corridor Crew tried it - it was OK but not great - you could do better.
Oh yea i remember seeing that video! They were getting pretty close from what i remember, but it would definitely be a fun challenge. Crazy to think that to this day that shot poses such a big challenge.
@@freddymakesamovie6015 I know, just goes to show how impressive and ground breaking those shots were for the time. Still can't be beat.
The music is annoying
Awesome work... I love what you did...
Thank you so much 😀
Great work
Thank you! Cheers!
You crushed that!
Oh man, thank you so much, i truly appreciate it 😁
Superb work, you really nailed the look and feel of the original shot very closely. I am by no mean a VFX pro or movie related, but one thing immediately disturbed me a bit. I can not say exactly what it is the main cause, but I think it could be that the camera movement is so fast, or your tower is too small, maybe even the focal length of your camera. Your tower seems smaller and is revealved quicker than in the original shot, which robs it of a certain power and eeriness - I hope you understand what I mean! But really, I had to look at the little figure in the balcony to figure out which was the original shot!
You have a very good eye/intuition! In retrospect i wish i had spent as much time refining the camera as I have done for everything else. Theres some very poor choices i can spot now that i can’t unsee! 😂😩
Hello! I really liked your video! I wanted to know what kind of smoke program it is. I’m also a big fan of Star Wars and how could I suggest you an idea to recreate the scene when Palpatine announced the creation of the republic on the platform in the Senate hall
Thank you so much! the software i used for smoke sim is called Embergen by Jangafx! And yours is an excellent suggestion, i remember loving the senate hall as a set, its so cool!
The Idea is the Most hard Process yo 😉💯
so great and amazing // 20 years ago it was impossible for someone to do something like this with a laptop // I made a scene from the movie blade runner 2049 // You can also recreate a scene from blade runner 2049❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍
It’ beyond me how we have managed to make such powerful tech so easy and accessible! I’ll check your scene right away! Love seeing recreations popping around youtube, they are so much fun!
Holy shit!
Haha thank you
certified banger
Grazie!
Bravo dude!
Thank you truly 🙏
you are a studio-in-one person! congrats!! one more subscribe!
Oh man, thank you so much! I truly appreciate it!
It came out great! However, there are a few things you could work on more to make the effect even better: 1. A slightly shorter focal length in the camera 2. Encase the tower from the first shots (add new elements, e.g. bars in the windows or railings you are by and improve the textures). 3. Remove the wall in the background when the camera moves away 4. Add details at the bottom of the tower, because it stands out too much from the surroundings. It would have to be composed better (rocks, terrain distortions, dirt, etc.) 5. In my opinion, the orcs have too shiny armor, I would add more dirt and reduce the metallicity a bit The whole thing is really great :) Can you tell me the trick on how you placed the orcs in the Procedural Crowds add-on? I tried and I can't add my models there. I'm leaving a sub and a thumbs up!
Oh good call! These are excellent points! Thank you so much for your feedback! I think the next one I’m going to approach with a bit more focus, I wasn’t expecting such an overwhelming community of people to see my video! It’ exciting!
I got confused at the end to which one was the movie shot lol! Great job man! You nailed it! Obviously some improvement could be used, but wow that is great! Earned a sub!
Haha this made me laugh out loud! Thank you so much!
Awesome! Do you have social media we can follow
Outside of youtube I only have instagram that i randomly use, but that one mainly showcases my work as cinematographer/photographer, i try to not post a whole lot about my main job, except for this video of course
Very very good
Thank you 🙏
Great job! I did the crowd sim on the original shot in the movie. Glad to see it’s still inspiring. Back then it took hours to run the simulation. If only we had today’s tech 25 years ago. 😉
@@geofftobin3094 If there was one dream outcome I hoped to achieve from making this video, it would be to connect with the people who worked on the original shot. Above all else, I simply want to thank you for not just inspiring me, but for literally shaping my childhood. Would love to hear all the behind the scenes stories that happened when making the trilogy!
Fantastic movie. We all love 'Doby' at home. Good work team.
omg love this comment and video ❤
Can you participate in my next movie?

Great job. Very well done. LotR is also my favorite movie. :))
