SQUEALING Problem STIHL ms194t - Update
มุมมอง 1.1K6 วันที่ผ่านมา
So I thought my Stihl 194t had a clutch bearing problem. But it turned out to be the clutch drum rubbing on the back of the clutch assembly. The bearing was fine and had plenty of grease. I hope this video helps. Thanks For watching #stihl #chainsawaddict #problems

I knew it was a possibility he would hit my house with the tree. But his quote was trade for chainsaws. Everybody else's quote was about 15,000 to climb and fall the 15 trees near my house. I'll clean up the mess and fix my home and still feel like I got a great deal. I will take care of the other 20 trees that are not so difficult. Thanks for watching!

I got alot of those. Grate saws I’ve got two with the case like that ones a super 2 and a later XL.
that one looks and sounds similar to the 040 050 and 075
Very similar. Some of my favorite saws to work on
Me quedé con las ganas dever mas de esta motosierra.
Quisiera verla en accion
I had a 041 AV, t was maybe the best designed saw I've ever seen
One thing I really enjoy about 032 is how easy it is to work on. Still looking for a 041 051. Thanks for watching
Es realmente hermosa. Filmala cortando un buen tronco
I might get a Homelite 360 😎 These old saws sound great and they have a soul 😊
@derrasenmaher9730 I would recommend one. I really like the 350/360 pretty much order an intake boot now though. Thanks for watching
Great video as always
Thank Again! @Bigfoot_fixes_all
My neighbor was in the forest service for about 30 years. Back in the 80s-2010s he used a homelite 360. He said it was awesome and he ran it every day through brush clearing, storm cleanup, and standard firewood cutting. My other neighbor says he remembers using that very same saw when he was a kid to cut firewood. About a year ago, the owner of that saw gave it to me and I got it running again. Still has the original 24” bar and even had the original fuel lines. I’ve got a video posted of that saw with its bar buried in redwood, it’s a beast. Definitely professional and my go-to work saw.
@GoneSawing That's really cool. I've always been curious about 350 360. I've used it more now since this video and I really like it! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to check yours out now
There is one of those for sale in my area that I might get nice saws
@Bigfoot_fixes_all For some reason this is one of my favorites in the collection. My first ever chainsaw was a Poulan
Beautiful saw, would go well with my 330 and 650.
@pallmall5495 You are absolutely right about that! Thank for watching
another great old saw, looks new 😊
@tomintexas817 Yeah, she's in great condition! Is kind of a weird saw, but kinda fun to use
I got a few of those one with the rare black decal and a blue one and a red and white one
@JTschainsawshop That's awesome! You have quite the collection. I watch your channel
I have the XL. Those homelites run forever
@LattManthier That's for sure. This one is almost 50 years old and runs in cuts great
Muito bom o vídeo 👏👏,, é muito raro ver tanta máquina antigas juntas,, parabéns 👏👏 eu adoro essas máquinas,,, Deus abençoe vc 🙏 saudações do Brasil 🇧🇷🤝
Thank you friend. I really appreciate the nice words
Yes yes my friend best video for me 😊
Thank you!@@PatrikCecelja I appreciate the support. Thanks for watching
Always have the brake on when starting up!!🙄
@darrenboston342 That is great advice! But this saw does not have a chain brake. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it
Back on the day when this saws are well made and reliable 👍🏻
@derrasenmaher9730 I'm surprised how well built this saw is! This is my first Poulan from the 70s. Thank For Watching!
@ the old ones are Great. Really built to last
@@derrasenmaher9730 No planned obsolescence
@ and no plastic crap. Better carbs, better coils..
i have a 3400 that would only run at 4 turns out on the low side and it only cut with 16" bar semi chisel chain it bogged down with 20" full comp, I'll dive into it this winter i think it's an air leak.
@CoryHorton836 I have been pretty lucky with this one so far, but I do think the compression is getting a little low. Good luck with yours. They are actually kind of fun saws to run
I have the Lombard ap 42, its all black. And has the anti-vibe on it, had never seen one until i bought that one. And for only 20$ ! It shakes your body its so loud but its 70cc of power
@punisher3607 $20, that is a great score! I got this for $50 at a garage sale. And it is also loud!! 84cc No av. Thanks for sharing
I had this chainsaw, got it from the fleamarket but I couldn't get it to run properly.
@mrMacGoover That's too bad. They are a lot of fun! If you still have, good luck getting it running. Thank For Watching
nice old poulan man😅
@tomintexas817 Thank You!
They're hard to get
@trishacoyle4610 Yrs they are, I have only come across two in the wild
Great saw was 99 Dollar at sears
@ChadAllen-r1j Oh wow. I would definitely pay 99 for a new one right now. Thanks for watching
How much HP my friend
@@PatrikCecelja It has a whopping 2hp
The old Homelites had a sound all their own.
@mogeroithe So true. The sound of the old Homeltes is was got me into the vintage stuff
great deal only saw I got cheap was a 30 dollar wild thing in hard case
@tomintexas817 I'm always searching for the cheap stuff. Never had a wild thing...yet
I've got the VI-Super 2 Automatic, great limbing saws
@oologahgardentractorandcha3055 It's a surprisingly usable shape, i'm surprised somebody doesn't make a similar one still
@@sea_saws I think the late model Echo and Stihl top handles are similar, and even lighter, but they get pretty pricey
เป็นเลื่อยยนต์ที่ดีครับ
Yes, they are great saws. Thanks for watching friend
Not bad at all! Homelite made some of the best old chainsaws!
@@KristopherMarie I agree. These Super 2s are very handy and fun
That’s a pretty decent score!
Not bad for the price of a couple of coffees. Thanks for watching!
maybe it needs a little shim to keep the drum over towards the engine. my saw does the same noise when i went to an aftermarket drum. i just assumed it was the bearing making noise and chattering but now im thinking its the drum rubbing the clutch
@AA-tb4ff Yeah, I think that's a good idea. I'm going to take it apart and see if a spacer or some kind of grinding or something will help. Thanks for watching!
Your needle bearing is shot you need to grease them once in a while ...
@wrenchntwist133 Normally, I would agree. But this bang is brand new and was installed by Stihl and has less than ten minutes on it. And the saw only has an hour of run time in total. Thanks for watching
@ oh I see
Мошний какой год
So true and fornso many things. Thanks for watching friend
Awesome saw sir
@MAKESHIFTFARMs Thank You!
I love the plywood cutout lmao.
@@KetJustin100 Thank you! They work pretty good
Best💪
@@PatrikCecelja Agreed!!
I love my 194t until she squeals like a pig. I’m gonna swap to 1/4 pitch for faster cuts and hope that the new gear fixes it.
@@bearlaceration8971 I feel the exact same way. I think i'm going to do the same as you and go to 1/4 inch. Thanks for watching
@rtgirard Thanks for sharing! Stihl replaced the bearing and clutch once already under warranty. But when I got this back , it was even worse. Pretty much squeals on every start cold or warm. I think this time I'll take it apart and clean and grease it again loke you said. Hopefully, I'll be able to see what's going on inside. This saw has only about an hour of run time. Thanks for watching!
My 194T was making the squealing noise, so I took out the clutch, cleaned everything, re-greased the bearing and put it all back together. It then stopped making the noise and hasn't made it since with about an hour on the saw after. I did not, however, play with the drum while running like you did. That's interesting. Of note, though, I have an older 193C rear handle that does make the squeal but only when cold for the first minute or so. Once warm it never makes the noise. I also greased that bearing recently and after about 2 hours on that saw since then it has not made it. Maybe the clearances change with temp and how tight the clutch is put back on... not sure.
I love the low idle. I just got my o38av back from the stihl shop and it goes like buggery. I tested it out on some red gum I have laying in my yard. Cut through it like it was butter.
@Jack-ny4vu Me too. This has been my go to saw lately. They are a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing
Best allround saw. Lightweight, good Performance and easy to use. Its my favourite Stihl saw of all time. Got the 026 (1989), 260 (2006), 261 without M-Tronic, 261 with M-Tronic and the new MS 261 with M-Tronic 3.0.
I agree! Do you have A? Favorite
@ favorite Stihl: 026, 260 and 261 M-Tronic 3.0 Dolmar: PS 32, 115i, 7910, 9010 Husqvarna: 550 XP Mark 2, 562, 572, 592 Homelite 360, McCulloch Pro Mac 700, 610, 10-10
What’s the procedure to start it?
@singlecam1000 This one is M Tronic. Hold the throttle while you switch the lever into the choke position. Let go of the throttle. Pull it till it starts and after a few seconds the throttle again. Thanks for watching

great job saw again online has a couple of 1/4 pitch conversion kit for that one it's the same kit I used on the 200t and 009L😊
@tomintexas817 I like the idea of 1/4 inch. Maybe that clutch drum will solve the problem
This video encourages me to try Nova chip on my old Russian Урал 2T Электрон chainsaw. It is equipped with similar donut trigger which is dead. Until now I was thinking that Nova chip can only replace a breaker point ignition. But as I see you successfully put it here.
@@БайВладунчо Good luck! I was thinking the same as you and almost didn't try it. I hope it works for you. Thanks for watching
That's how to fill your boots with sawdust. Doing nothing.
@sams6441 lol So true!
got new ms194t and it sqeals too.. trying to figure it out myself.. i worked a couple drops of oil at clutch bearing and still squeals.. wonder if drum is rubbing brake band ?? it seems to squeal bad at start up.... will apply grease to bearing as others stated.......
@@jbwood6116 No, it's still with the break assembly and cover removed. I just figured out what it is. It's the back of the clutch hitting the drum in the center. I'll post. A video about it
@@jbwood6116 seems to have nothing to do with the bearing and only to do with the drum rubbing the clutch in the center
thanks for suggestions .. i took the clutch off and looked at drum and did not see any signs of metal getting gouged .. looked at the bore at bushing with magnifying glass and no rubbing there .. drum had little lip there.... my bearing did not have a lick of grease so i greased bushing and bearing .. put back all together with bar / chain fired it up and NO squealing .. shut down restarted 3-4 times no squeal ... i did notice the drum had a little side play so that told me it had a little clearance between drum and centrifugal weight " package "....... we are currently cutting limbs out of big pine tree and of course we are between two carports .. we will be using the saw and i will give progress report ...... thanks.......
Kind of a hot rod as older saws go. Great chain speed.
@Mightycaptain It's a lot of fun! This is the first saw that really made me like the vintage stuff. Thanks for watching
Awesome collection/video. I gotta do a video like this.
