So how do we self reflect and find compassion for people like this? This is to find peace with the situation rather then go through a cycle of choosing guilt or resentment. I’m talking about going much deeper within yourself to understand they too have traumas that stunted their emotional intelligence which resulted in lost children within adult bodies. Especially if they are our parents. “The best of you are the best to their families, and I am the best to my family.” Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3895 Is it not best to be a reflection of your own character rather than theirs?

Mother said to me, "We knew how to get you to do anything we wanted...just ignore you, ." Neither of my parents should ever have had children. Their children were there to do their bidding...to serve them. I was extremely parentified. This video brought up a lot of pain. But I'm thankful that someone could put my childhood into words.

I see so much advice nowadays saying “Stop blaming your parents for your flaws and trauma.” I can see how blame can hold you back, but isn’t it good to recognize where trauma came from? I’m so confused

Great conversation. I really like the attitude towards the pathologising of trauma. It does no one any good to just label and send on their way with meds. I wish this was a video because it is easier for me to take it in when I am watching a person speak but, I still enjoyed the chat. Thankyou to you both.

You can observe the same innate love and goodness we have, in animals too. I've seen where horribly traumatized and isolated lab animals were taken into a sanctuary and the sole act of receiving regular compassion from another animal allowed their stifled feelings to bloom. Very moving and insightful to our own human experience. Love and kindness are not acquired from bibles or customs. These feelings are innate and will be expressed when it's safe.

IMHO: I think that neurons for "empathy" can be burned out/damaged from the brains when young children go through traumatic experiences. Answer for Adult Children: Learn to reparent themselves (the damaged inner child) and have an "inner family" that is healthy (inner world).

My dad told me more than once in my teenage years that he never wanted me, that i was a mistake and that he and my mom would still be together if it wasnt for me. He was OCD, addict and narcissistic. Then it took me until i was 28 to realize that my mom emotionality manipulated me with guilt and displays covert narcissistic behaviors. I have worked very hard to change my own toxic behaviors, fell short this past year due to old trauma manifesting. Now working damage control and learning everything i can to prevent another emotional and psychological relapse.

I confronted the fear of loss and addressed what needed to be repaired, and I indeed lost everything. Dealing with a profound sense of worthlessness that my ex chose to lose everything we had instead of working together. They didn’t have any consideration moving forward.
