An overland trek across Maine (OTAM). The goal being to cross Maine from the West side to the Eastern coast while avoiding pavement at all costs. It was a 4 day trip consisting of almost 600 miles. Water crossing in the winter like this is by far the absolute most terrifying offroading. Mud ice rocks holes snow ughhhh
Typical jeep getting pulled by the Tacoma
Everyone uses those BFG All Terrains. Not sure why, much better options out there.
They come stock on a lot of modes I believe. I got a pair of Falcon and felt an improvement. What would you recommend?

Why have a truck if you can't have fun with it? Might just as well buy a BMW and park it at the Mall.
Nahhhhh, you didn't ruin it -- just made it more desirable. FJ Cruisers are best when they look like they've had fun and been used outdoors! Drill some holes in the floor pans so the next water that gets in can get back out!

You run that kind of water with no snorkel, seems risky there too.
I had a 2008 fj. It went through everything. Why did so much water get in? Was it through the windows? Mine never had water get into the interior.
Look like the windows are down. 💯 I have to roll my nissan frontier up to not splash inside like especially with 1.5 wheel spacer adapter water Flys up the sided lol 😅 🙃

what were you stuck on? An I want to come out to play in my FJ Nothing a shop vac can't fix
This hole is deceiving. Nobody really ever makes it in these conditions. Sometimes the water is lower. I’ve made it through on one occasion.
Join New England trail runners on fb if you want to come out with us
Drill some floor pan drains, and use a small carpet cleaner on those seats before it dries. Then leave the windows cracked and the heat on high for a day. It’s not that bad.
@@hungryhungryhummer Yup -- concur. I've drilled floor pan drains on my last four 4x4s and they're perfect not just for draining water out, but also for washing out the inside. DP

I learned a long time ago to go around unnecessary mud holes. I’ve damaged far more in mud and water than anywhere else.

IMO it's really silly to punish your vehicle like that, you'll pay for it eventually.
Agreed. All that money into this truck just to throw it in a mud hole. These things weren't built that great to begin with. These new tacomas have c channel framing instead of the rectangular tubing frame.
If it's a mudhole that you can negotiate fairly easily then ok, but to get into 2 feet of mud/water and just pound on it back and forth for 20 minutes is dumb IMO.@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz
What are you guys espect are taking these Toyotas with no lift-highway tires out four wheeling what are you expect you’re going to get stuck you going to
BFG All Terrain KO2 is not a “highway” tire. That truck is perfectly suitable for trying to get though the mud hole.

Call it what you want but in this instance, those BFG’s might as well be a highway tire as they’re just as useless in real mud.
