Might depend on where you are. Best bet is to send a rebuildable core engine to somebody that does engine rebuilding and porting like Group K, C57 Racing, Newmiller machine to name a few. You might be able to find one ready to go if you ask in a group on Facebook. Make sure it's a trusted seller.

@slkgeothermal it's a common mod to tap the 750 cases to run the 650 stator and lighter flywheel. I'm not sure about putting a 750 stator and flywheel on a 650. Should be a way to do it but I'm not sure. I never hear of anyone going that route. Usually they want the lighter flywheel and smaller 650 ebox to swap it into a 650 or 550 hull.

@adrienroy9310 I would start by jumping the solenoid to see what happens. I would look for wires that look melted or smell like smoke. You might check out the other videos on my channel. @JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel thanks for the reply, I'll check the other videos. I did jump it, and the starter turned. There seemed to be power going through it to the other systems and power going to the solenoid when I pushed the start button but got zero. No clicks or anything. Nothing seems burnt. Whatever happened, popped and happened instantly. Only reason I ask about the cdi, is because when my mpem went out on my seadoo, it seemed to be doing something similar. My stator caused that issue.

@@adrienroy9310 are you getting spark when you jump the solenoid? I also did a short video on testing the start button.

@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel that's something I thought of checking out, just haven't got to it yet. When the solenoid comes in and hopefully it turns over after that, I'll check the spark to make sure it's working before I start turning it over and over.

@michaelriddle7817 try unhooking the wires from the stop button in the ebox. Should be a black wire and a white wire. Also try adding a ground wire from the ebox to the engine. Trim 1/4" off the end of the plug wires. If those don't help it's likely the stator. Could be the cdi or coil too. But a bad stator is more common.

@kobywilmoth5217 I would make sure the stock bilge pickup is clear and make sure the hose isn't clogged. After that I would inspect the hull for damage. You could also try riding with the seat off. If the hull isn't damaged the most likely spot for a leak is the though hull bearing where the drives haft comes through the hull. Another possibility for a leak is the cooling system. You should be able to find it if you run the ski with the seat off. If you have more questions check out the Kawasaki 750 sitdown group we started on Facebook.

@JT77. I would start with a compression test to make sure the engine is healthy. After that you want to figure out if it's a fuel or spark issue. Carbs might need to be rebuilt with good quality kits and check the popoff.

I'd recommend joining a group on Facebook to get more help.

Use your voltmeter to see where you have 12 volts. I have a few other videos on my channel testing electrical parts. Double check the wires going to your solenoid. I have another video explaining how to test a solenoid all by itself. Does your ski crank if you jump the solenoid posts?

@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel “side note: you responded to my post on fb as well and you link me your video” But I will need to get me a voltage meter to check I don’t have one. I will be going to get one tomorrow. No crank at all just clicked. I have 3 ebox know to be good. I have a 4th also to try one has a new solenoid. I had bought another one just in case which I also use on another ebox and still got the same click. Swapped starters one is new other was old. Both haven’t been tested yet to confirm or rule it out. I also jumped the wires and got nothing no crank so if I’m not mistaken that would mean starter? Ive also tapped on the starter, tested the stop n start all while using a new battery and running off a truck battery. And no crank just click

@alexvolz7125 feel free to message me on Facebook. I would pull the spark plugs and see if you can turn the driveshaft by hand to make sure the pump or engine aren't locked up. Did you try jumping the two solenoid posts with a screwdriver?

@mark8038 check out my videos on how to test a solenoid. Also have a short on testing the stop button. I would try jumping the solenoid. If you watch my jet ski videos you should be able to troubleshoot it. Might need to test the wires from your start switch. They are different on the ZXIs. Might be a wire is unhooked or wired up wrong.

@@ERICHART-rl7ch yes there is a fuse inside the ebox on a 750 and 650s.

@khanservativ2401 aftermarket electrical parts are well know to be junk. Your best bet is used oem ones. You can useva 4 wire one. The 5 wire ones have an extra ground. Or so I've heard. It's a good idea to add a ground wire from the ebox to the engine.

@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChanneldiscovered it was only that 5th ground wire that fried. The one that fastens to the back of the stator. The rest were ok. So that 5th wire on the stator harness is an additional ground?

@khanservativ2401 sorry. That's about the extent of my knowledge on the stator wires. You might be able to verify it's a ground wire with a voltmeter set to ohms. Might also try adding a ground wire from the ebox to the engine to see if it works again. I'm still trying to master the electrical side of these skis.

@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel Ok - Thank you very much for your time. I'll do some more study. The ebox ground your suggesting, are you saying that would be a 6th wire? An additional ground from the box itself to a bolt somewhere on the block? Sorry. I really do thank you for your advice.

@khanservativ2401 some skis like the js440, js550, 550sx came from the factory with a wire from the ebox a stud on the intake manifold. Since your ground wire burned up I figure it's a good idea to add one. It's not going to hurt on any ski to have a ground wire from the ebox to the engine. Extra protection for the stator I figure.

@johnbrown2030 my guess is the fuel pump diaphragm.

You could try adding a primer.

@Bumsik777 Kawasaki doesn't use any one way check valves. A lot of people remove the oil injection system and premix their gas.

@Bumsik777 I've had two skis where the oil pump gets a spot where it doesn't hold pressure so oil in the tank drains into the engine.

@danielokuda you don't have to use the template sensor. Both plugs fire at the same time every time so either way will work.

That is your temp sensor. It bolts to a bracket that hangs down in the front left corner of the engine bay. Attaches with a 10mm bolt. You can see exploded parts diagrams on Partzilla dot com. Shows every single part on your ski. You could also join the Kawasaki 750 sitdown group on Facebook and get quicker answers there. I started that group.

Check out my newest video where I lay out all the parts of the cooling system and explain how they work. To answer your question. The main part that provides cooling is the brass 90 degree fitting on the side of the jet pump, it hooks to a hose that goes through the hull and into the bottom of the exhaust manifold. Make sure that is clear and not clogged.

I asked them about the chain being welded on. They said that's not allowed. Has to be bolted on each side and seperate from the bolts that hold the hitch

Oddly they don't seem to mention any specs on the bolt size or the chain size. And really every link on a chain is welded. But I'm just looking to show what worked for me to get it to pass the inspection.

For a 900 start with the low 1 and a 1/4 out. High 3/4 out.

What would you like to know? You can slide it right out when the motor is out.

The two big red wires? One goes down to the starter the other goes to the battery positive post.

It won't ruin it. I only do it occasionally to test it sometimes.

The start circuit should be open until you press the start button. The stop circuit is open if it has a lanyard and is in place. If ot doesn't have the lanyard style it's an open circuit until you press the stop button.

If you look at my shorts videos there's one on doing a continuity test on the stop button.

What ski are you working on? I can get the starter out on most Kawis with the engine still in. On some the exhaust needs to come out.

Either JB Weld or 5 minute two parts epoxy.

Not sure. Never messed with a ZXI or triple cylinder ski. I'm there are a few similarities. The coil would likely be different.

On the three light bar at the center rear, is that just a running light or wired into your brake light?

@jenslee1678 the only lights that change when you hit the brakes are the two at the back corners. During the inspection they don't seem to actually check that they function. At least that's my experience with the last three trailers inspected in Yakima. So the three in the rear middle are marker / running lights.

They go to the cdi box to kill the spark. Not used in this video to simplify it.

@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel Kawasaki H1 500 with about 60hp on tap and weight only 384 pounds so performance was good for its day.

Check your selector valve, hoses and pickup in the tank. Fuel level also needs to be high enough for the on tube. You might have a cracked pickup tube sucking air.

@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel it was perfectly fine before I don’t know why it’s like that now. Worst case scenario it’ll just run off reserve right

@@Xprototype12x you can run it on the return no problem. To test the ON line unhook the reserve hose from the carb and unhook the ON hose. Set the selector to on. Blow into the return line and fuel should come out the hose to the carb.

Did you get a throttle wheel too? I think my bracket is on the motor mount. I sold the ski so I can't check. You might join the 650SX group on Facebook and do a search for the bracket or just ask there.

@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel yeah everything’s good expect for it not picking up fuel when it’s switched to ON but it doesn’t really matter anyways because u could just delete the whole switch and go straight from the tank to carb so I think it’s probably fine ?

No. Only the Keihin 28mm carb has a seperate fuel pump. The Mikuni has the pump built into the carb. Check out my video What carb is in my Jet Ski.

Thanks! It's the nicest 440 /550 I've owned and the only 550SX. Mechanically it's in really good shape. Needs a little work cosmetically. I'm planning to do the reproduction graphics from PWC Graphics and maybe do Jet Trim mats. We did a huge roadtrip to go get it. It was a bit of a gamble. We bought it and a 750ST that sat for at least three years. The guy didn't know a lot about skis. He was able to verify the engines weren't siezed. This one sounds good after a carb rebuild.
