Hi Just a small doubt, When we start a new round, why do we have to do 3 chains as a double crochet? Why not do a double crochet itself? I'm also using a variegated yarn and the pattern is absolutely beautiful, but just had this doubt
You need to do the chain 3 to get to the height of a double crochet
Thank you I finished the hat I followed closely and made it
Took me from 2-10pm to do one and a half squares and then it took me from 4-10pm to do the other squares + sewing them together!
Amazing!
can i use this as a strap for my crochet tops?
I'm so happy I could finish this project! Thank you so much for sharing, it was really clear and easy to follow... Greetings from Argentina!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ thank you making a top then making this hat to match ❤❤❤❤❤
Is there a oattern to purchase?
Sorry i dont have one. I
@@MrsStewartCC thank you that's ok I can follow with video I can pause it.
How much yarn do u need for this cute hat.? I have 528 yds
what a fantastic idea! Why didn't I think of this 😃
Thank you so much for the video! Your scrunchy looks lovely. I’m excited to know I can make scrunchies out of the same cotton yarn I use for my tops so they can coordinate 💕🌈
great pattern! Thanks! can we put lining too???
I tried to line each triangle. I think it is more practical to make a rectangular lining for the sides and bottom
@MrsStewartCC great idea thank you 😊 🙏
Can I make this with cotton yarn?❤
Thanks!
Wow thank you!
I have just started this pattern about 2 hrs ago and im almost done with my first square! So far its coming out so very cute, simple and works up pretty fast. Thank you, ill be looking forward to seeing what other patterns you have
Im going to make one for Palestine 😊
This is cute and such a good tutorial ❤❤❤
Ty so much
@@MrsStewartCCI’m gonna make it as soon as I can. ❤❤
GREAT VID MAMA❤
i was hoping to make my bag strap as long as yours, but i couldnt figure it out with just trial and error.. would you mind please letting us know how many inches your bag strap measured out to be?
Is this a cotton or acrylic yarn? Pretty
Acrylic it is called Caron Cakes cinnamon swirl
Can i use a double crochet to be faster , i dont think it will work but maybe?? Also thanks for the pattern its really clear
I am not sure....dc will be looser though. Try it and see and let us know 😆
I finished this and it is amazing I'm trying to send a picture
I have a fb group mrs stewarts crochet club
Hi. I’m using a #3 yarn so, I’m going to need more than 10 rows. Will you please tell me how big the squares are? How many inches across? Thanks so much.
Hi the squares are about 12 x 12 Size 3 yarn you would have to go more rounds to reach the same size
@@MrsStewartCC wow! That was fast. Thanks so much for the info. I’m working on this project now. It’s so cute. Thank you for your video!
I already made two bucket hat with this tutorial and they turn out so perfect for a beginner, thank you so much for taking your time on this🥰😘😘😘💐💐💐
👏👏👏
What is the size of your granny square?
12x12
I dont know if you reply to comments if you do can you advise please? Trying to make a cat bed with large circle base am up to sc 16, sc2 in next stitch, repeat. Looking at it Im going to come to a point where the whole row is just sc and the base not be large enough? When I get to that point do I start with 1st row of sc into each stitch etc 🤔
Once you have the base the size you want, you can just do sc crochets without increasing. This will make the sides go up. I recommend that you do the first round in the backloops only which will make a more distinct edge to the sides...
@@MrsStewartCCthank you for prompt reply but what I meant was, the circle doesn't seem to be growing and I'm at sc16, 2dc in next stitch. Do I just have faith lol and keep going because the circle is only half the size I need it to be?
@@SandraJane-bd8im it should get bigger. Note that it is sc and 2sc. The trouble with sc is the slowness You could do the circle in hdc or dc to make it faster but it wpuld be less toght
@@MrsStewartCC thank you for your advice, much appreciated ♥️
Loved your tutorial. Just finished making one. Will be making many more. Thank you.
So happy to hear this!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You made this SO easy to understand. I appreciate that you're explaining why you're doing what you're doing. I attempted 4 different tutorials, 4 trial and screw ups. Lol. Yours is the best by far. 😊
Ty so much
Did the same I ended up only getting it right with this tutorial,🥰
Beautiful bag thank you for sharing ❤❤
Thanks for tutorial, I want to know why do I get a cone instead a flat head
That would be from not counting stitches. You may have missed an increase. ?
Thank you so much. I always worried about making bag straps❤
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love making bags, but I dreaded making the handles. Now I can make as many bags as I want with a sturdy handle like this ❤
Could you please tell the measurement of each granny square in cms? My yarn is not very bulky so the size may help more than the number of rows
Its about 30 cm × 30 cm
E descrivere il tutto in italiano non è possibile? grazie.
I dont know italian but maybe you could try subtitles? I am so sorry
Very clear tutorial but… Quick question, is it possible to do this exact same stitch while changing colors every 2 rows to make a colorful stripes effect? If so, how would you do it? (Can you make a video about it/ reply to this comment on how?)
I am not entirely sure....you could add a second colour and carry it/pick up every other row. I would not cut and add each time. I will give it a whirl and see how it works
Like the way it looks. Going on my To Do List ❤
Yay! It is totally adjustable for different sizes
Magnifique ❤😊❤😊😊❤
How many rows did you make the handle
Hmm i can't remember. I think it was around 100. You may want to measure how long you want yours and crochet until you reach that length
@@MrsStewartCC thank you!
Thank you for the easy to follow video it was very helpful
great tutorial! I love your commentary and this was so helpful. I made the origami bag by viv crochets and used this to make a sturdy strap. thank you for the help!
You explained it really well and am almost done with mine! But as a beginner am a little confused bout the sewing part.Do we hve to just continue sewing the the first two squares cut the yarn and then join the bottom square with the third square or do we just not cut it and continue sewing the bottom and third square? I am really srry if this is confusing I just dont know how to explain lol
Good question. Don't cut the yarn if you don't have to. Keep going. I really just "did it". Just fold the squares into triangles and do the best you can. I made this video a year ago and I wish in retrospect I showed the sewing better. I was new to filming. It might help to just stitch markers to hold the edges together...
@@MrsStewartCC Tysmmm! Mine looks soo pretty! And you did a GREAT job doing the filming btw!;D
Would this work going along a chain. For the bag handle
thank you for a great tutorial! I just finished the bag (my first ever crochet bag), it took about a week, but each granny square took me about a day
Yay!!
Hi Mrs Stawart You are making amazing videos! You must make good. But there are some problems in your videos that I found out analyzing your TH-cam Channel .Do you want to talk about it for a while?
No thanks!
Thank you,i love my work lovely
You’re welcome 😊
first time doing it. and i'm so excited that the strap is done. thank u 🥰
Unless I missed it, you never mentioned the size of the crochet hook you used.
Oh yes! I did post it in comments I used a 4.5mm
how many yards?
I am not sure....it is about halk a skein of bernat premium....maybe 250ish
Hi how would you make it to fit a 10 year old.
Hmm maybe go down a Hook size? I am not 100 pecent sure. You may have to fiddle with it
In the process of making this bag! Can't wait to see how it turns out. I am looking for various projects to make and sell. Would I be able to use your patterns to make items and sell them as long as I give you credit?
No credit needed! I try to make generic things. Good luck 😀
Thank you so much I love this pattern !
Once you have finished the first few rows, do you conti ue to slip stitch to start a new round or do you just keep going?
I do it that way. I like to start from a corner
I am an absolute beginner, I made 3 small granny squares as my first project and wasn’t sure what to do with them. I saw a video on tiktok about this type of bag, and immediately found your tutorial on here!! I finished in about 2 days, but I made my squares and strap just a bit smaller haha. I used a 5 mm hook and 4 ply acrylic yarn! (Might size down in hook size in the future as it kept getting caught, not sure if it was my fault or the hook’s!!)
Thats awesome!! Its a great feeling to have a nice finished project. You can do this kind of bag with ANY type of granny square. Congrats on your first project
