Thank you for the livestream!
Ori is a kid that climbs with Austin a lot.. He climbs and is coached by Austin and Siri. To answer your question at about 55 minutes.
Thanks for the info. Hopefully we will see more of him in finals
100% bring back hard crimps!!! Bring back the hard stuff! And Jeff, thanks for always being a bad a$$ climber and showman!
We love the old Island Rock footage 👏
Got lots more footage from the comp that I need to post
Fantastic Sienna interview! Can't wait to watch the competition Recap when you release it.
The best!
Awesome competition!!! Great organization! Congrats to all!
Totally agree! CRG sets a great comp. Was an awesome way to kick off the comp season 😎
i bet the setters weren't happy with that😅
Setters have to accept that it's going to happen eventually 🤣
Love the conversation, and was great to see Ross climb in Boston. Hopefully this happens more often! I was thinking about the comment Ross made about his convo with the setters about ways of making international competitions more obvious re: a really great performance vs not... Dont have an answer, but I think the more parkour-y pure coordination moves are really bad at conveying how difficult a move is to the viewer. The European cup last weekend the mens final i think had a power boulder and a straight forward crimp line, and it was so much easier to tell how hard these moves were when the camera can zoom in on the holds, the athletes fingers barely gripping them, etc. And when you see one athlete unable to hold onto a hold, and another cruise right through it, it really does a better job at portraying that strength and difference moreso than someone happening to make a run and catch across a volume and someone else maybe slip their foot. It is just so much harder to see, as a spectator, the skill and effort involved in the parkour moves versus the power and crimp and finger strength moves. So I'm hoping we've kind of jumped the shark on parkour moves in competition and start kind of moving back a little bit, obviously keeping coordination as a key element of competition climbing, but coming back to pure power slightly, since as a spectator sport it's just gone too far for me.
Thanks for the insightful reply! I would be interested in seeing videos of parkour like problems that are set at comps. Yes we've all seen clips on social of gyms that set a "climb" that spans the entire gym & requires spamming one jump after another but we don't see those in competition. The closest I could think of was the women's final problem 3 at movement Harlems Sleeping Giant last season which was a leap to a huge volume but it was a single move and it was obvious to the spectators that it was difficult. I do agree that parkour shouldn't be part of competitions but dynamic (not just coordination) movement should/will remain a key element in comps.
@@BetaBreakerz I think what parkour-like means is quite subjective too. For me I don’t know another way of describing the super coordination type moves that don’t really involve any traditional climbing moves. Laches at all the Olympic boulders is like one example. I personally can’t think of a worse or uglier move than a lache to demonstrate how physically hard bouldering is and an be.
@@nickdefrancis ahh yes the lache. I'm not a fan of the move myself especially when it requires landing on one foot along with a low catch. I think that although the move in it's entirety doesn't scream 'climbing specific' the individual parts of the movement on their own do. I'm not justifying it but just looking through the lens of a route setter. There's more show behind the low percentage moves like the lache. Spectators love to see people soaring through the air and feel anyone can understand how difficult a lache is without explanation or the right camera angles. I feel the due to the showy nature of the move it will not be going away anytime soon especially as there's a push to drive the sport more mainstream. I've noticed a huge crossover from other sports like ninja warrior and crossfit to climbing having movement that they are familiar with (dynos, laches, steming) has helped solidify their journey over to the dark side 😆
WHY ARE THEY FALLING INTO THE HUDSON THAT IS DISGUSTING

Marco and Zander, the three of us should visit Paris 💌💌
I was there!!! 😂😂😂😂 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰..

😂
Good stuff!
A tour with shots of the climbing there. Nice. Thanks!
bro came up with a better beta xD 👏🏻
beautiful regardless :D
I personally would have tried and double clutch and then a bump. But that looks smooth too. Not sure how good those holds are but my gym has the first volcano
Double clutch felt like a tough catch. It's possible the friction was there when they first set the climb but they were super gummed up when I was giving this a try.
her strength and endurance is unreal
Agreed! She's just casually hanging on for what seemed like forever 😁
that was SICK
this was insaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnne
Nice
This should be one of those sports where everyone shuts the fuck up...
No
Climbers feed off of the crowd's energy.
As always guys great Recap! Great insight and information!
The intro edit 🤙🤙
🔥🔥🔥
Went for the first time today. There are 3 auto-belays now.
Insane!!
Great recap.
I know this might be a space limitation, but the camera constantly moving that much feels like a bit much. Looks like a super cool comp!! Just wish the video portion for those of us not there was shot a bit differently
Very confined space. We opted to not limit visibility for the crowd in attendance for the sake of the Livestream
the trashy mic, the bad lightening. the raw passion and the pure hype. i love everything about this. damn those guys are CRUSHING!
Oh wow! He is really good! 😮
Headed there this weekend, thank you for the video!
Thanks so much for the videography! It was great meeting you guys there!
Our pleasure! Great meeting you as well!
💪🏾💪🏾
Why do comps think an mc blabbing and shouting while the climbers are competing is necessary? Introduce them, count them down, then zip it and let them climb. 😮
Interesting. So you would rather watch in silence? Maybe just music?
kids a beast fr

😱
The hype thiugh😂
Imagine him not sending that after all this lol. That was so badass though
Oi oi oi oi.
Cocaine was tested possitive of this crowd
🤣. The crowd was definitely at another level!
So, how are you going to descend now?
Either downclimb or jump. Both are fine, it's not that high and there are big crash pads below
Yes typically if the climb ends with the climber not climbing all the way on top of the wall (topping out) you can just drop down or climb down. You should never jump down from a top out climb like this... It's too dangerous. Most gyms have down climb holds set up to easily descend as if climbing down a ladder but that's typically set up on a flat section not overhanging like this one. In this setup after topping out this climb the climbers can walk to the back of the wall where they can access stairs to get down. It's funny because Movement Valhalla only set climbs that go this high for the finals of competitions and even Sabrina was confused as to where to go because she wasn't about to jump down 😬. You can see her confusion in the full clip from the Livestream here: th-cam.com/users/liveTjSiU5in-HM?si=Jif1AJlwPsTfPQ16&t=8041

That toe-hook was sick!
Yes, please come up to Canada to live stream!!! You do such a great job!
Glad you enjoy the livestreams! We need to find more contacts in Canada so we can see what we can do. If you know any gym managers send them our way 👍🏾
Awesome stuff ❤
