Exploring Donegal Yarns: A Day at Ireland's Iconic Tweed Mill
Join the This is Knit team as we spend an unforgettable day visiting two iconic stops in Kilcar, Co. Donegal, both integral to the tradition of Irish tweed yarn. Our first stop is Studio Donegal, a treasure trove of a shop where you can purchase a variety of woven goods and also finished yarns for hand knitting. Here, you can see traditional weaving in action, as skilled artisans operate the floor looms to create beautiful, handcrafted textiles.
Next, we head to the Donegal Yarns Mill, an impressive facility where the magic of traditional tweed yarn truly comes to life. At the mill, we explore the processes of dyeing, blending, carding, and spinning the renowned Donegal tweed yarn. This yarn is not only sold locally but also exported to commercial customers worldwide - Irish tweed truly does have global appeal!

Thank you , always enjoying these I might be a tight knitter, :) love the idea of a swivel cable but the snagging of the transition vs regular ones really slows me down on every brand so far , using my thumb nail to try to jump enough loops to fill the needle by squishing them up tight so they feed nicely onto the tip . Using different size tips and not having to duplicate cable lengths for each size has always been the big advantage over fixed circulars . Great advice about buying a size that does not come with the set, will have to get it eventually , 7mm is one of those sizes 6.5 -- 8mm is a big jump
