A few comments the mirage 2000 is comparable to the f16 in capabilities and program. The intermediate project between the 2000 and rafale was the mirage 4000, developped on Dassault funds , meant to supply an alternative to the f15 . It has canards and twin engines. However it didn't meet french versatility requirements and led to the development of the rafale with it's Omni role capabilities replacing all fighters in french inventory with one plane. Also one of the main reasons to pull out of the Eurofighter consortium was the necessity of a carrier capable version. France was the only country with that requirement .

The Eurofighter is just as versatile and has some advantages in cost and serviceability. The Rafale is a beautiful aircraft though. .

This airframe was very iconic. I wonder if US have it also , and upgrade it with conformal fuel tank like those the Viper and Super Hornet. Not gonna lie it being on the Russian side just halts its true potential because of how the economy and politics of Russia doesn't give this airframe justice. Gotta say it's better than euro fighter. Looks, role, capabilities, stealth characteristics, weapon packages and most important thing not having multiple oem as it a pain to operate a jet that has parts from different countries, huge logistical nightmare for euro fighter
