Im unclear as to why people buy and watch for the value of if you plan to live in the home and can afford it what does it matter the value. People shouldn’t borrow the equity from the home unless its worth more exchange for another income bearing investment.

We have walked multiple new communities in our area and these builders are building absolute trash, especially DR Horton Everything I’m seeing on the Internet DR Horton does not back their product!

Had a DR. Horton home and had no issues. Granted this was 20 years ago. I would purchase DR Horton again.

This so dumb. Buy a house to live in, get something you like and you can afford with a fixed rate loan. Stay there unless you need to or it is advantageous move.

Good infoa As an appraiser in Houston I see many new construction houses in different phases of construction. You would be amazed at what I see in some of these new development job sites.

Don’t forget to warn about the ERCOT power grid and outages in most of the state of Texas!

Killeen, Tx is nice but it doesn't have Trader Joes, Vegan spots and Arts. The people are very nice. I met some of the nicest people at the gyms, parks etc. It for older people like me. 😂

These new homes are constructed within a week are so cheaply made i wouldn't pay for a house like that i would prefer an older home w land and no hoa

I think we would have been able to sustain our expenses as a middle class. However, with foreigner buying houses, with investors, and our country flooding with millions of non-Americans we are in a worst situation than we could have been.

I just built a new home in a Del Webb. Imagine my horror when the builder turned out to be Pulte. Cheapest and fastest. Thank God I hired an independent inspector to keep tabs on them.

My son and dil bought a new house in 2017 that had yet to be built. It was supposed to be finished in spring 2018. There was delay after delay with everything (imo some of explanations were flimsy at best) and the house wasn't finished until December, 8 months after they promised it would be finished. I think the only thing the builder gave them by way of recompense was a coffered ceiling in the family room. Never understood why son/dil didn't push the builder a lot harder for them to take responsibility.

It’s your dream house. Why are you talking about selling? Why are you tracking appreciation? And surrounding a down payment, NO THANK YOU. You take whatever you could use for a down payment and you invest it to earn interest. As long as it’s higher than your mortgage rate, it’s a good decision.

I moved my family out of Killeen after our once-quiet neighborhood (off Westcliff) became increasingly violent. The gas station right up the road got robbed repeatedly, and the final straw was when my house got peppered with rounds from a drive-by a street over. No thanks. I moved to Temple. Yes the cost of the house was more, but when all other factors are taken into consideration (water, insurance, trash pickup) it ended up being cheaper per month than a similarly sized home in Killeen.

You’re selling in the area and the title says “Avoid”…? How about allow me to “help” you with some things you should know about… The state of Texas is a whole problem. Crime is random. Grew up here since 1990 moving from Brooklyn, and only had a bike stolen when I lived in LB. Left Killeen for 15yrs, came back and still quiet and chill where I live. And crime is senseless and minimal. Ft CAV is def nothing like FT Hood was pre-Iraq war.(wild Wild West, high divorce and std rates) The schools have average ratings because of lazy parents. KISD is a good district w/ lots to offer. Pay attention to your kid and the school.🤷🏽‍♀️ Killeen has 100% jogger-ability!

In any city there are good parts and bad parts. To say Killeen is bad never having lived anywhere else isn’t a true observation. Killeen is not Chicago. If you’re messy and from the streets, you can fall in line with that lifestyle. If you’re about business and quiet you can do that too. Crime is everywhere and extremely random. Killeen being a small city with constant random crime feels really close to home. Still not at the level of a bigger city. Killeen is not for everyone and is a blessing to many who know how to hustle, be open minded and handle business. Many sit and complain- Killeen this or Killeen that. Yet won’t make moves to make things happen. I grew up here. Moved to the DMV for 16yrs and came back. Not a lot to do but def a slower pace. Income isn’t high but there is money to be made, I’m doing it ✌🏽

im sure a big percentage of that 82 billion is spent on non sense. i would research it but it makes me so made when i find out how they waste our tax dollars. its better if i dont know ignorance is bliss 😅

Sheridan built our home in Arlington. One of the best builders but I think they went out of business right after out home was built with the housing crash in 2008/2009. They were a smaller company.

Why make a larger down payment. That money would be gone now. Your home purchase is only a lose if you sell now. You have a larger home with payments you could not afford now.

You only need to look at Chicago to see what the effect on housing and homelessness will be.

For the size Killeen is. It is bad place to stay. There crime is very high for a place that small in Texas.

If we legalized marijuana and taxed it, we could make a substantial dent in that 82 billion. My home state Nevada made $133,091,547 and California made $1.1 billion in taxes just in 2023. With the Texas population that would make easy tax revenue for schools, roads and lowering property taxes. The Texas stock exchange does seem like a pipe dream, but nothing good ever comes from elites like BlackRock.

I would argue Houston is one of the least race conscious cities in the US. Cant speak for the rest of the state.

DR Horton is lowering the value of well made homes in our community. They are selling cardboard boxes in undeveloped sections of our community. The older homes, previously built by a reputable builder are negatively impacted by DR Horton substandard homes. DON'T BUY A DR HORTON HOME!!

Cutting property taxes completely or by half would remove the financial stress many homeowners have! A lot of homes around my area have a 2.6 rate which is insane

Sold my rentals in 2022 at the peak. A wise investor watches the market and understands what's happening. Sitting on a hoard of cash waiting to go in like a king to buy soon. Can only blame yourself for being a "speculator".. 🤣

So people forget there’s a huge central area in California known as the Central Valley and it suuuuucks. It gets hotter than Texas, however it is dry, it’s mostly ag and manufacturing industries, it is extremely conservative and there is nothing fun to do. You have to travel hours to go to the forests or beaches, and traveling with those gas prices and hotel costs… forget about it. I left California because I couldn’t afford the lifestyle I wanted, to live in a metro area. Yes, California is beautiful if you can afford it but Texas is still a bigger bang for your buck.

Many times property taxes are collected by local governments. I think 🤔 maybe you forgot that. I would definitely stay away from Blackrock.

I used to live in Killeen it’s not that bad but it has it’s bad actors. If your old it’s not bad if your fresh and young it might be bad depending on who you are friends with, I have had a lot of friends get killed over fake gang violence. Would recommend for retirement but not to stay. I will say Killeen has cleaned up a lot over the years!
