Introduction to the restoration of a Georgian cottage
Well, thank you. That was fun to watch and super helpful too!
Are you in prison or something? No updates for 3 years yet it was going so well.
ik had meer plaats gelaten tussen de schuting en het tuinhuis nu kan je er niet meer tussen om het te behandelen
the wallpaper design looks roughly 1940s to me. Crown nowadays has a similarish floral pattern they call Marlow. Perhaps that is the origin of the 'Crown Ma...' fragment.
What happened no more updates ?
Some brainless idiot put that stuff on a friends house. Then painted it all DEEP GREY! MORONS!
Gypsum plasterboard = disaster for clay brick and lime render
Hi. I have only just come across your shed video. Really good! I am planning on doing one next spring, 2025... I am going to be doing most of it myself, 😮. A bit ambitious but I don't have much choice.. How long approx did it take you to build yours? It will be treble the time for me I don't doubt but, I am going to give it my best shot. The size of yours is about right for mine too!.. Thanks 👍....
I cam promise you a roof system that small DID NOT push brick enough to crack it. That's a creepy looking place. Looks like something out of a Texas chainsaw massacre movie.
Glad I found this. Doing work on my partner’s flat in a Georgian lodge. It’s listed and grade 2. Looking to expose the chimney brick
I guess your TH-cam aspirations ended here!
I made it by myself thanks to WoodPrix plans. I think it's the best way to learn how to build that.
Loved watching your videos - so informative regarding issues of damp (and other nasties you find in old properties). Would LOVE an update video!! Come on dude don’t leave us all hanging!
Any chance of a follow up video to this one? How is it looking now and any improvement on the damp situation?
Nice work
I've had a restoration guy reccommend we remove our render. He says a good tip for this to to angle grind a diamond hatch pattern first before you do the hammer drilling. Helps the cement come off in chunks and keeps an edge for you to get the scutch under
Hope it all worked out well for you!
That's a good shed that 😊
Great videos and a great idea for the base, can I ask if the floor bearers are secured to the base at all? Thank you.
Are you not worried about Asbestos in any of the layers you open up?
Did you use treated timber for the framing ? Or just normal untreated timber definitely cheaper
What screws did you use for fixing the shed frame to the osb boards? This tutorial is excellent and doing my build this weekend, thank you for making the video
Looking for this answer too??
What a useful video…what happened to the channel!!
Great video. Where did you get your feather board and what length?
i miss the framing timber dimentions looks like 50x50mm
Love that breakfast too 😂
Great idea on the base will use same process
Mate, I watched these the wrong way round watching the shed build first. Impressed with you’re ‘thinking’ acuity. Thumbs up again but also a sub 🍻🍻
Mate, I appreciate all the effort you went to with all the information given, as you’ve taken the ‘thinking’ part out of my project and I can now just get on with it. 🍻🍻👍🏻
OSB board = Oriented strand board board. Sorry couldn't resist. I'm just about to start building my shed/garden room, so watching a lot of videos like this. Always good to see how other people approach their builds, every one is ever so slightly different and that's perfect for finding little tips and things that could apply to my own project. Thanks for the video.
Which video have you found to be the best? And whats the rough cost of building one from scratch if you don’t mind me asking? I’m thinking of doing the same thing instead of buying a flimsy flat pack.
@@James-yy4vl most of the videos I've been watching are aimed at garden rooms, but the same techniques apply to a very high quality shed. I'd say if it's just for storage and you don't plan to insulate it, then something this size can be built to a good standard for under £2000
Excellent shed build, very clear information provided. I’m going to watch your videos to build my garden shed soon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Was the original roof badly done (bodge) ? or was it just done like that back in the day ?
Great work ..that would have cost you a fortune to buy, nice job
Any damp proof under the bearers
Curious to know how it's stood up - has the base remained sound? Also what size is the framing timber?
Where are you based? i see boys and boden bags..
That was most definitely a human bone my dude, you're gonna have a ghost hanging out in your shed lol. Also unless you ask your neighbours permission don't plant bamboo, the bastards grow everywhere...
That hardened old wood will refuse nails, but I'm sure 8mm galvanized bolts w/fender washers OR just lag bolts would do just fine. Collar ties make very good sense & purlines add much rigidity to the roof itself.. Of course, I've built prototype cars, a few walls, fences, but your old house is a bueaty project..
And the channel is on holiday?
100k minimum to fix that up
Thanks for the Great video.very good explanation will help me building shed in this summer
I would be bored to tears after 10mins of this. Hope it turned out ok
Really helpful video. Have been designing my shed build for this spring based on almost exactly the same configuration and dimensions, but had completely over-engineered it!! Timber frame and studs all now downsized, along with budget! Thanks!
What’s the rough cost if you don’t mind me asking? Thinking of doing the same
Any further updates on the renovation? What happened?!
what would you use to plaster internal walls. nhl lime and sand? with some hair in it?
Great job...and instruction video. Thank you
😂 so those are collar ties .... meanwhile you haven't explained or elaborate the determination of the height to fit them above the wall plates.
Any chance of an update? How’s it looking 2 years on?
Great demo. Only problem (for me) is the lack of daylight! A window would have been a nice addition.
Any updates?
