Do you hear anything at volume level 10?
I would turn mine up halfway with opt 10 speakers It would get fairly warm!
Would not cover the top with anything it will overheat
Yeah, this was just to test it. I've had many vintage receivers and they've never overheated on me...But I usually don't put anything on top of them.

I own a decent condition 6055 and they are good strong machines and a nice warm sound. Good phono stage. Works well with either Kef Concorde or Chorales. Don’t overlook the early solid state Sony’s. The Sansui trends are ridiculous prices and Sony vintage amps are still reasonable prices with very good high quality components.
If it’s recorded in mono then it will sound as mono when playing through the phono stage because that won’t change the original quality or nature of the pressing.
I think this is great basic tuner, even more the Sansui T-7 model is much easier because it has an auto search and autotune feature

Hello. What year is this model from, please ? Was it a quality device ?
It was from the early 1980's...around 1983-84. It was a great turntable. It wasn't very high end, but it was a great sounding, well performing direct drive player.

The only thing you can really do is attach an external antenna. Sometimes adding an antenna helps get the signal, otherwise it probably needs to be repaired.
Can play without ampifer?
Have you unfold the AM ferrite rod antenna in back panel?

Does anyone know how I can listen to mono pressed vinyl in mono on a Str 6055 ? . There is no mono switch (only for fm) like most vintage receivers . Just has modes stereo , reverse, left and right, left, right. Just put it in left channel mode ? Does that mean mono ?

eh, I don't mind having to wait to get paid it's usually not that long. And I think they use some credit card processing/financing company for payments. I don't really have an issue with them. I actually like them a lot more than eBay. But eBay has a much wider audience.

Love it !! My first real stereo receiver back in 1978. Lots of Journey, LedZep, Jethro Tull, Molly Hatchet, Allman Bros. etc. listened through that baby.
Hmm your front panel seems to work fine. Mine has a mind of it's own lol. Might buy a new one and see if I can fix this old one or use it for parts.
Yeah they pop up for sale for pretty cheap around here nowadays. So it might be worth just replacing it, but if you're looking for a project fixing it could be fun too.
