Just Doing Work.
I have established this channel to develop my skills at filming and editing short videos, and give back to the DIY community on TH-cam that I have leveraged over the years to help with my projects. Although heavily focused on minor maintenance and repairs on vehicles, my aim is to focus more generally on DIY jobs that can be tackled by home-owners, vehicle owners, and more generally on those that endeavour to repair their own things. I will be doing maintenance and repairs on my 2013 Mazda 3, 2012 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2005 Honda Pilot initially, but plan to continue to expand as I eventually sell these vehicles and purchase new ones.
I will continue to ensure that I provide not only information on how I performed the DIY work, but also on costs and savings so others can determine if the effort was worth the savings. Cheers.

Thanks for this great video. Same issue with mine. I found the filter online, but having trouble with the clamps. They are 2 diff diameters, one says 38.1 and the other says 44. But I can't seem to find them on the parts websites. (Oetiker ear clamps)
I did the DSC680s on the wife's 2010 3 on all 4 doors. with the factory head unit and as it sits the bass is lacking with these speakers. The car had 2 blown speakers which made listening to music unbearable. After switching speakers to the Kickers the mids to highs are ok. but the deep bass is lacking and the sound quality is lacking to poor. The factory Mazda head unit doesn't have the power that a proper amp would have drive the speakers and make the music come alive. I have a 2012 3 and i am still on the factory speakers that didn't blow yet and the music quality is much better in stock form. I am looking at possibly putting in a subwoofer in the wife's 3 to make up for the lows to gain back the bass. If all a person is doing is wanting to upgrade the speakers I'd pass unless your stock ones are blown. These kicker speakers need either proper power for them or a subwoofer to make up for the bass your missing or maybe a new head unit with more RMS wattage per channel. I am looking at the EONON touch screen head units as well. just something to think about.
I have the Eonon head unit. it sounds better.
This delete button thing will work if I don't have onboard graphics in my processor?
No, none of this will work without on board graphics
@DIYNorth then please make a video for those who don't have iGPU in their processors and facing this no display problem due to graphics card. After a driver update, this issue is not going away, tried DDU, older drivers, every solution of Reddit and TH-cam but nothing works, don't know that's a windows issue or AMD GPU issue because there's no physical damage on my GPU or any pc part. It's been an year, I'm unable to play any game, it crashes and I'm unable to see anything on display. Fans don't spin but after 50-60 restarts, GPU starts working. I need proper solution.
@oldsculgamer5815 I'm not sure I could make a video that fixes the problem you are having it sounds very specific to your computer and I have no way to replicate the issue. You might need a repair centre to look at it.
Thanks for this guide - it was very helpful and enabled me to fix my "no scroll wheel" problem. A couple of tips: the bit size required for the screws is Torx 5 (quite small). The glue holding the plastic (not rubber in my case) glide strips in place is the stickiest known to man. BE VERY CAREFUL as the strips will stick to anything (including your fingers) and be extremely difficult to shake off -- ask me how I know! Also, the bottom strip (next to the on/off switch) is comprised of TWO strips glued back to back for some reason -- again, multiplying the stickiness. Apart from that, the job is quite straightforward.
Thanks for watching and for the recommendations
Great diy video again brother. Did you notice any improvement in mpg?
Lol...nope
Just another thing that we don't need that causes us issues
At least it is accessible. Other washers have it buried inside
I just went to buy oil and when i wanted to do it i realised my pc fan’s can’t be opened Feels bad man
Dang
Huh...I never knew either. Just cleaned mine out. Not too bad after only one year. Thanks for the heads up!
It should keep the washer smelling a little fresher. Thanks for watching.
The water hammering had been going on a week or so and was getting worse. This method did the trick! Thanks
Hopefully it lasts. If not there are water hammer arrestors that you can put near the worst taps.
I just used a rubber mallet
If it works it works
This was right on! Mine was shredded too Thanks so much.
Thanks for for watching. Hope you fixed the issue
Hey mate for the extension, what type of cable did you get, just any 18AWG wire?
Yeah it's pretty basic. Just went to the automotive electrical section and grabbed whatever was on the shelf
Have a set of these on the way to replace some majorly worn tires on a Jeep Liberty that we just bought. Was on the fence about getting dedicated winter tires but we do too much winter off road/trail use. Plus these were on a ridiculous saie at tire rack at the moment.
I think that you'll be happy with them. I still have them and have no complaints.
Thank you!! My cramping arms are VERY jealous of your easy access to the plumbing.
thanks for watching. Yes the rear access makes it much easier.
What a legend. It worked for my first try, and now I can back up all my games from their fragile media. No longer do I need to pull out the yucky toothpaste and water method anymore xD
Indeed. You can also buy games, copy them and sell them right back on the used market.
@@DIYNorth That would be a fun idea, just to collect all the ones I want and keep them as a digital copy. Currently, I borrowed all my friend's PlayStation games, up to the PS3 and am in the process of preserving them all into digital media. So, he'll get his games, back along with the digital copy and I get to keep one digital copy for myself since that's the whole point of my efforts. I was also thinking about having a look around my local library for the off chance that they'd have PS3 games that I could take home overnight.
Often overlooked maintenance item! Sweet Captain America socks! Thanks for sharing, buddy!
Sadly there is no captain Canada.
Very helpful...
Thanks for watching
Excellent project!!! Great preventative maintenance! Nice way to renew ducts and make sure no dust leakage or heat loss happening. How do you like your front-load washer-dryer combo? I still have my 23-year old set of GE Neptune washer/dryer that may need replaced one day.
yeah i think the front loaders are good. I would keep the washer dryer longer but I have moved every 5 years or so and i end up leaving them in the house.
@@DIYNorththis is the way. Moving every 5 years makes owning a home your main investment. Move. Renovate. Sell. Everybody wins the new buyers have a better home than when you bought it and you buy a new home that will get better with time and get more space for the family
Do you have a vid to show replacement of the hose above it? The hose that at one end is attached to suction. Then, the other end flips between hose and floor cleaner. finger's cross someone has one. That bit of hose on mine is full of holes.
No sorry, soon maybe. I have lots of parts that are held together by duct tape. There is work I could do.
@@DIYNorth No worries. I found a video for it. Vid title is: Dyson DC40 change over hose replacement-repairman shows how.
@greenbow7888 hopefully it fixes your problem
On mine I didn’t even end up needing a ground! Idk 🤷♂️
Weird
@@DIYNorthi know! But made it super easy!
A good ground is always good to make sure you have good stable signal
The Torx screws aren't "proprietary", they are called "security" screws. You can get Torx bits with a hole in them to remove these.
Good to know
Great video step by step. Clear instrction. Thanks so much.
Thanks for watching
1 year later and the video is still being helpful. Thanks! I figured if it was the battery or alternator, It wouldn't have gotten me around the past 6 months! Thanks for lifting a worried weight off of me. 👍
Thanks for watching. To be totally fair it took me a very long time to find this solution.
I followed your serpentine belt replacement video step by step. Super easy. Now I’ll be using this video to clean the throttle body. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for checking out the videos. most of the Mazda 3 stuff is easy. Except removing the front brake rotors, that was really hard.
pro tipps here you can just move the plate that hides the hardrive to the right to remove it without damaging it
Thanks for the input
I was successful at fixing drift in mine by "popping" the thumbstick by slightly pulling it back, blowing into it with air, then moving it in a circular motion, blowing again, then "popping" it back down, doing the circular motion again. Didn't have to open or unscrew anything. It's probably not as thorough as by opening, but it got my controller drift fixed several times over the year.
Thanks for the input
Damn I installed the tridon tsw010 m12 crush washer on my Nissan plug, I thought since it didn’t cover the entire washer on the head bolt that it was wrong. When I tightened it all the way down there was a gap between the oil pan and the bolt, as in it wasn’t sitting flush. And when I took it out it was decimated and some of the crush washer went inside the threaded hole. Is that how it’s supposed to be?
That doesn't sound right
@ maybe I put it on the wrong way. Does the head of the bolt sit flush against the oil pan on yours with the crush washer?
@TheCityofGod no the crush washer creates a slight separation between bolt head and oil pan
@@DIYNorth yeh so then it sounds like i put it on the wrong way. Can you have a look at the tridon tsw010 on google and let me know if it looks like the genuine Nissan one? It looks the same to me
It looks the same
Hey Bro, what version of Multiman do I need? I dusted off my ps3 to play MK Trilogy (PS1) and my version of multi-man takes me to a desktop type layout screen. Not the smooth PS3 menus. Im guessing I need a newer version. I wanna copy it to the hard drive, its really scratched
In the description of this video there is a link to the jail break video I did and it has links to what i used for my downloads. All the version information should be found there as well
@@DIYNorth Thanks for all this
You must live in a totally dry climate. If not, I see great places for mold growth and/or wood rot between and behind and above the pieces you added, even possible water damage from outside all that you'd never know was there until it's too late.
I'm not sure if my climate is dry or not, but this video is almost 4 years old and there is absolutely no indication of moisture behind the plastic, nor has there ever been. I'd say the building code supports this method for a reason.
This video was too helpful. Thanks
Thanks for checking it out
Great video
Thanks for checking it out
I just bought a new EGR valve for $35. Easy swap and a lot quicker.
That's a good price. I think that you would be hard pressed to get a quality one here in Canada for less than $100. I assume that you are in the US.
@ that is correct 👍
Great tip to use a hole saw as a template and use a drywall hand saw to cut around it! Well done, as always!!!
thanks for checking it out. I've got some much drywall to repair it is ridiculous.

@DIYNorth Thanks..let's hope. All the reviews are great..honestly I don't own a high end guitar so I'll probably not know..lol

What brand of the water fed pole do you like working with best?
I only have experience with this one and it is just a home depot one. It works fine though. I'm sure there are better ones out there though.
This is not a waterfed pole. It's a telescopic pole. Window cleaning source has a lot of poles that are great.
Absolutely fantastic! I always assumed you couldnt play ps2 / ps1 games on slim models without them being on the psn store? Im having some trouble though, i have created an ISO of code veronica x, however on trying to start it, nothing appears when it goes back to the xmb
are you going into the retro games icon to search for the game?
I don’t have integrated so what would be causing this?
Has the GPU ever worked on the motherboard that is causing the problems or is it a brand new install
@ it worked for a while and then one day didn’t. No fans spinning or anything. But other cards work fine. Same board
@stonalisa3729 it could be a card issue. You can also try to clear the cmos and try updating motherboard bios to a newer version
What about Mazda atenza which oil do I use for it
I only know my car. I don't know what yours might take
Appreciate it 🫡

Thank you brother for the info
No problem. Thanks for checking it out
I recently did mine also on my 2011 Pathfinder. They were in bad shape. I knew this because I could feel play in the front end and thru the steering wheel. The vehicle would kind of clunk around in the front over bumps. After doing mine, it drives so much better. Steers nice again and tracks straight. For reference, mine has over 145k miles.
Once I got mine out they didn't seem that bad really. It was a pretty easy job though, so I'd say it was worth it.
Nice diy project, although can be intimidating messing with steering components! I wonder if you could just rent a tie rod removal too at a local Autozone/Advanced Auto Parts/ O’Reily Autoparts? Well done saving a ton of money!
Yeah it is a bit of a leap to get into steering, but this one seemed ok. I'll give everything an inspection after 100 miles or so. I'm sure you can rent the tool. That said both my vehicles are at the point where I think this will get more and more use.
@@DIYNorth solid plan! Yes, and DIYNorth wouldn’t be DIY if he didn’t have his own tools to diy. 😉
Another great diy bro. Did it improve the softness of the ride in any way?
Thanks for checking it out. I literally noticed no difference whatsoever. It was all based on nissans recommended work order they gave me

thanks for posting. i used a 23mm stubby wrench - that was key as i found no room for anything else. i ordered one from amazon
good tip. Thanks for watching.
will any cooking oil work if you cant afford sewing oil?
I would say no. food grade oils could oxidize and gum things up worse. sewing machine oil should be about $5 at Walmart and will probably last you for the rest of your life. If you can't get any I would just ask some of your friends, family, or neighbors. Someone you know has a sewing machine and it may have come with a bottle of oil when they bought it.
@@DIYNorth really? what about baby oil? forgive for asking. i want to try back up measures. and you said olive oil will gum up just as vegetable oil?
I would use baby oil, which should be a mineral oil, before using olive oil for sure.
