    This was amazing and helpful. Could I ask for your help with a diagram that’s been giving me a headache? 2 Concentric pots, 3 way pu selector, coil tap for the neck (Novak bs-ds). Is it neck to coil tap, coil tap and bridge to pots, to selector and out OR neck to coil tap, coil tap and bridge to selector, to pots and out? Thank you for any of your time!

    I am going to try this for a custom 257ackley i built 2 years ago with a Brux MTU contour 1:8twist i finished at 31" I chsmbered with a reamer i designed to give 0.130" free bore and slightly tight necked just to do a good clean up neck turn on brass. I designed the reamer specifically for using Berger 133gr and 135gr lomg range match bullets and its an absolute hammer. Problem is hardly anyone makes 257rbt +P brass anymore, cant even hardly get 7x57mauser. So i think i will buy Lapua 30-06sprg brass and do this since i use that rifle for unlimited class 1000yd benchrest at Williamsport, PA. My only concern is getting brass flow that will constantly need turned off the outside of the case neck. Which isnt that big of an issue really

    Converting cartridge cases is something I do fairly commonly. My top conversions .308 Win to 300 Savage, 7.62x39 to 6.5 Grendel, 40S&W to 357 SIG. It's a dieing art but very necessary for the "odder" cartridges, but it saves alot of money. The .06 is the grandfather of a lot of rounds, a lot! Harbor Freight and Amazon have those mini chop saws, and they work pretty good on the cases. Look up making 300 Blackout from .223 and one of the videos will have them. Get your son to wear safety glasses!

    Great video. I am wanting to convert .270 Winchester to 25-06 - it should be easy. I am waiting on a 25-06 case gauge on back order.

    • @user-un5my5bw4j
      @user-un5my5bw4j หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just make sure you trim your length on those. You can do 270 to 25-06 or neck up to 30-06. People make the mistake though of trying to use 30-06 or 25-06 to make 270win which you shouldnt do since 270win has a neck that is 0.050" longer for max case length and then have a case up in the chamber that the case is short and put all that flame at the back of the throat of their chamber. What you are doing though is fine just trim to 2.485" after otherwise you may have really grity feeling bolt lift after you fire a shot

I saw your other video with the green PJ with tort PG where you talk about and show the tones it gives you, it's exactly what I wanted!! do you know if this can be done using only one switch? not all combinations though just 3, P series only / P series + J series / P parallel + J series Thank you again!!

    I love my Ibanez Tmb30 short scale pj bass. I don't see it as a beginner model, or as a budget model, etc. I just see it as a bass, and it sounds absolutely great, especially its stock Dynamix pickups. I did the set up myself, and a short scale can be very forgiving if you don't get the action 100% correct, it is just comfortable, stays in tune and has such clear tone. I put on a set of DR Highbeams and wow, tons of low, mid and high end punch, no fret buzz, no funny business Sure, I wish to get myself a Fender or something some day, but for now I am absolutely happy with an instrument that didn't cost much yet was made with good quality pickups.

    Wouldn't two 8' 3/4" and another 8' 3/4" to cover the middle seam be enough in this case? It seems like the two outside pieces wouldn't do much and the outside is generally where things are most solid anyway.

    Great video, cool bass brah. I'd agree with you about 'slappin' going out of style, but only in rock, like RHCP, RATM and others similar. But in funk, certain R&B tracks and some jazz, slappin' will never go out of style, imo. Rock on buddy!!!

    Hey man, thank you for this video. I am in the process of building a bass, and I was thinking of getting either a Jazz type, or a PJ, but hearing the Series/Parallel switch option you have on your machine really made me decide for a PJ. I gotta ask the luthier about that switch option

    Dave, great video! The previous owner of my old home cut through a second-floor joist for plumbing. Usually, fixing it means adding sisters on both sides, connecting with headers. Would your method suit my situation, where fitting a new 2x8x16’ is challenging without removing more than the bathroom flooring? Unfortunately, I can't touch the hallway's wood floors, and even removing the ceiling below the hallway feels like it wouldn’t solve the problem.

    • @davetenney5800
      @davetenney5800 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think I would laminate two layers of plywood on both sides and use a lot of glue. That should make it nice and strong again.

    My 1981/2 VOX Standard bass is wired in this way. Thanks for sharing - was looking for an explanation - the wiring diagram is a bonus, as I am swapping out some of the components and re-soldering everything. Much easier than trying to read the rather blobby soldering on the switch. Cheers.

    Good video, I've definitely gotten use to my 5s I don't even have any 4s anymore. Definitely used to playing more vertically now the one thing that is a big con for 5s is you have to find a really well constructed bass to have that nice tight B string that doesn't sound and feel flubby. i.e. Lakland 55-01 for me. I do have to do a lot of transposing for different singers so the 5 is really nice for that and believe it or not a lot of country really calls for are just sounds really great with those lower root notes and playing that E scale on the 5th fret of the B string is amazing imo. We all have our preferences stay blessed my brother!

    I don't care what pickup configuration there is and which is best is an individual thing but more songs have been done with a one pickup P-bass than any other bass and there is a reason for that.
