NCLEX Prep | How to Prep for NCLEX (Part 3- Number of Practice Questions Before NCLEX)
In this video, I am addressing my HIGHLY most asked question "How many questions should I practice before taking NCLEX?" along with the approach that I believe is the best way to get the most out of your practice questions. Oftentimes, I hear students discussing we need to complete a certain number of practice questions before taking the NCLEX, and as a result, students are lead to believe that is the ONLY focus to studying the NCLEX.
Today I am clearing some of the misconceptions, giving you some advice, and also what I believe is the average number of questions you should aim for before NCLEX all while doing it in the right mindset to possibly change the way you study.

    Peds HH experience is dependent upon each individual experience. It’s super easy. The pay is pretty low and raises are rare. I worked with a Nurse that was with the agency for 10 years and never received a raise. You are disposable. There is flexibility. You work if the parent likes you. I have been in some scary situations with parents abusing nurses and i have even seen child abuse. I have worked with agencies that told me i should not report it bc they will lose money. You will get a lot of work if coordinators like you or little to no work if they don’t. The home health agency will place you in a home according to your nursing skills or train you to skills you are comfortable in learning. You have a plan of care to go by so you will have this information prior to the meet and greet so you have time to review their medical profile. meet and greet gives the parents a chance to give the nurses a run down on the child’s current and past status. after going over the poc you will know what you need to ask. it’s not all that great in my opinion.

    Something else that people aren't informed about, is investments outside of your job. Talk to a financial advisor, and do your own DD, but I feel investments in something you've done your research for, makes doing difficult jobs easier, because the hope is that in the long run, if you average down, or whatever your long term plan is, you have an escape velocity ramp, so that you're not stuck with just the 8-12 hour shift salary. That's not financial advice, but just some cautionary tails, because no-one, and I mean no-one, told me anything about investing during age 16-33, and I could have been slowly accumulating and planning for my future. I worked bad wages, and I could have used some of that type of motivation, to see an escape plan, years down the road.

    I also made a snapshot of my clinical rotations including number of hours on each unit. The portfolio comes in handy when you’re filling out profiles on websites and they want to know all this info. I keep an electronic version because they want it all uploaded too. Any additional info the request, I add it to my portfolio. I was just asked for my nursing GPA. So I made a spreadsheet and then added it my portfolio.

    I'm currently trying to figure out what career path I might go to after I get my GED. I failed it 20 years ago in math and the essay. I always struggled with math in school. I prefer basic math so when I failed my GED I just assumed that I would never be good enough to be able to go to college. So I got a job in a grocery store and eventually was working western union. And I can handle counting all that money. That is fine. But I don't want a job that requires algebra, geometry, fractions for example. And since I now have physical limitations because I have herniated discs in my back, scoliosis, arthritis and inflammation in my back. I'm not suppose to be lifting heavy objects. And although I prefer sitting over standing alot. I can't sit down for hours and not get up because then my herniated discs will bother me. So I wanted to get ny ged since it's an old regret of mine but I'm so far running into trouble even finding a job in the medical field that does not conflict with my mental and physical limitations. I don't want to have to figure up complicated math all day and feel like I've been in school all day. I cannot do something that requires me running around 100 mph and literally at all times on my feet. I cannot lift heavy objects. Let alone a person. And I don't like the health risk of some of these other jobs in the medical field that put you too close to working around radiation, x rays because due to long exposure it changes your DNA and you might get cancer later. So any thing that puts me around any of those things is an instant NO from me. I just don't know what career out there is good for a 36 year old woman especially if I need to go to college that would suit me in all ways. I can't expect perfection in a job. But I cannot do something that is physically demanding or challenges my knowledge in complicated ways especially math. I would rather just be a cashier and not have the headache. Lol Any advice anyone?

    I currently work as a Perioperative assistant , cleaning ORs between cases. Occasionally you’re also asked to assist with patient transport. I’ve been working a few weeks now and today I was asked to do a patient transport , which I found to be enjoyable. Interacting with the patient and their family felt rewarding in a sense, even though I’m not a nurse or anything. I’ve always loosely thought of nursing, mainly because the aspect of helping people appeals to me. Today’s experience has left me thinking about this path a little more. I’ve always heard the stories of cleaning up urine and fecal matter, and I’ll be honest, cleaning up dog poop does make me gag. I feel like if I could push through that part though, I could have a fulfilling career where I can really help people. Schooling also seems intimidating, so I’ve got a lot to consider. I have a drive for helping people though so I feel like if I can survive it all, it would be worth it.

    I'm in school, at a local SNIF, and went to clinical first time March 17th. The RN on the floors was our guide for the day, and her technique was 180 degrees different from the text book lectures. We were taught in class to address patients by respectful names and titles, and the for RN actually called them by their first names, or by Honey, Uncle, Sweetie, or, "My favorite patient".... and about 5 other very familiar nicknames. She also had absolutely no plan for the day. We just passed out breakfast trays. I was assigned one patient, then another candidate did the work. I was totally confused. You're right, the floors were so different from the class. I wonder why they even bother with a class. Good video, thank you.

      Thanks for watching! I would say it is prefer to ask your patients how they would like to be address especially if it is upon initial contact with the patient. Depending on how familiar the nurse/staff is with the patient, I often notice staff tend to address patients in "nicknames", but it is always important to check to see how patients like to be address upon initial contact and whether patients are comfortable with nicknames☺

      If you are a CNA, you are the caregiver Lol. We are the bottom of the hierarchy. We are the cleaners😂

    I thought CNA's help nurses? But it seems like CNAs do the Nurses jobs... what do Nurses do this whole time?

    • @nursingunveiled4906
      @nursingunveiled4906 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be a team work effort. ☺ Nurses have tasks that are outside of CNA scope of practice, but that does not mean nurses only perform work that is outside of CNA scope of practice.

    I work in a county jail and I’ve been wanting to move into healthcare because trust me. Law enforcement is really hard and very depressing. I hate it now and I found cna classes so I’m going to try it out. I often have to clean people, move people, clean cells and help people in the jail so now I need to see what the other aspects are of CNA

    I did 3 years home health aide. I loved it the pros outweighed the cons for me. I learned I loved 1 on 1 w the pt/family, the independence, not having a manager or drama or bullies on my back. I learned to deal with unkept torn down home sites. I even loved some pts bc of the relationships...even when their home was roach infested. Idk if I can do peds yet, I did adults. I worked briefly in the hospital as a pt care tech...it was so stressful for me. Call lights, war zone, disrespect from not just pts but everyone, bullies. Everyone seemed to not have it together. Everywhere it's short staffed. They hire everyone in my area for nurse residency programs at all hospitals. It's not hard to get a job. What's hard is to keep your license and deal w the mental and physical burnout. I'm probably staying w home health at least for starting out. From you I learned that you can start out in home health RN and then move to hospital if you wanted to, or other. I didn't know that.

    I become one also did EKG and Phlebotomy and nobody hire you for phlebotomy or EKG, they just hire you for nursing homes, you're experience is resume to just clean feces and lift heavy people, feed them, groom them so honestly is not that nice, is not what I expected, is like you put your health and your time for somebody else who can't move or do something for themselves and it's sad.

    I am a new nurse. I've been licensed since October of 2022. I got a job in a hospital right out of school, actually the same hospital that I did my clinicals in. I ended up being let go from that position in December because I wasn't catching up to speed quick enough in orientation. Fast forward to now, I got another hospital job. I am 2 weeks into that job and while it is definitely better than my previous hospital, there are certainly moments where I had flashbacks of what happened before, such as my preceptor running to the nurse manager because I forgot to put PPE on in a CDiff room (my mistake but still, no need to snitch). And there have been other moments where I just felt like I have no autonomy. I signed up with a pediatric home care agency because I want a part-time/per-diem gig alongside my full-timer. I got a case that is only one day a week and I am excited! I loved my pediatric class in nursing school but I would not want to do pediatric inpatient as it is too sad, so I feel pediatric home care is a good place to start. I feel like it is also a good backup plan to have in case the same nonsense happens with my new hospital gig.
