The Alternative® is a patented less-lethal device for law enforcement designed to save lives with a focus on officer safety.
The application was developed for lethal situations that involve a non-compliant subject brandishing a weapon (other than a gun), that cause an officer to draw their service weapon.
In these common types of 'potentially' lethal situations, The Alternative® provides an expedient and accurate option that is effective at longer ranges, up to 40 ft., to stop threats with less-lethal force and safely affect an arrest, presenting an opportunity to save countless lives and preserve officer safety in the line of duty.

this is the stupidest invention ever what happens if the device isnt corectly installed because the officer is in a rush in a high stress situation? what happens if the officers instincts kick in and he fires a double tap or a burst in a panic im all for less lethal but there needs to be clear seperation of devices to keep things simple when you start stuffing beanbag rounds into a non blue or orange shot gun or using less lethal rounds in a service pistol or snap on plastic gadgets over a lethal fire arm you invite too much confusion and complexity
I think this is a great invention. I saw this device about a decade ago and was astonished when it wasn’t put into service. If you watch the original video, this device isn’t meant to be a less lethal option. It’s supposed to give an attacker a final chance at life. Most likely an officer will need to provide follow up shots but, if he fires one shot, it stops a threat and saves a life… that’s a win win. If the inverter of the tool could come up with a way to permanently secure it to the firearm, until the first shot is fired… I really think we could see wide spread use of it.
