I'm Having the Time of my Life, Dirty Dancing and More!
Hey Lisa, Really hoping to catch the Big Boy en route on excursion next week as it rolls through regions I service regularly. 'Just missed it this week heading into Winnemucca later today, and Elko to West Wendover tomorrow- that section of rail off the plateau down onto the Salt Lake is spectacular! I'll have another chance next week. I'd love to experience that rarity of catching her mere happenstance rolling beside the highway... at one point she will cross a small entry road outside Sparks to a facility I service frequently- now that would be awesome; let's see🚂😉 Time to coffee up n' get 'er rollin'.
Hi Lisa.... Love the videos but not the background music. I have a large-ish 00 gauge railway in my loft here in the French Pyrenees. Very interested in your subject matter and just love your bubbly personality. It makes such a change from the doom and gloom merchants. I used to own a small standard gauge steam engine/locomotive when I lived in the UK, which was good fun, most of the time. Keep up the good work and thank you. 😊
Love the conductor chat and someone from England, its great to see these places from America which I don't get to see.
Very informative! Thanks, Lisa!
You’re welcome, Derrick - and thank you so much for watching! I feel like I’m learning about new Train related places and happenings every day 🚂
Keep up the great work Lisa. I stumbled upon your channel and found your train videos and travels very entertaining.
Thank you, Lisa! We at LA Live Steamers love your video. Well done!
@@dianamanchester2713 oh gosh… ☺️☺️ so happy to hear that, Diana ☺️🚂 Did I meet you when I bought my ticket - or have we not yet met?
That was a fun video, Lisa. You can meet fun people at any time when it comes to anything about trains. I'll have to check that place out. I hope to get out there next month. I want to go visit CAJON PASS. Love your enthusiasm along with your laugh and smile.
Thank you so much, Mark : ) And enjoy your trip to the area when you come!
Never saw this. Love the hike on the Boy Scouts trail to the observatory and the train museum
I used to hike Beachwood Canyon a lot, and did that one trail that goes up the steep climb to the Observatory. Enjoy the Steamers of you wind up paying them a visit sometime : )
I went here years ago from South Carolina, while visiting L.A. we got to spend the entire day there!!
@@vettebecker1 That’s amazing! Love hearing that story ☺️
The L.A Steamers sounds like the name of a bar band
@@harrisonallen651 😂🎶
I remember seeing the steamers back in the 1970s right next to Traveltown. Not sure of the truth, but the merry-go-round on other side of park is said to be part of Walts inspiration to build Disneyland. The red barn on property of the steamers is rumored to be from Walts Carroll Street home where he parked his steamers. L9ts of history there......
@@vincebreen3-55 yes, that is what I heard about the red barn, on my visit. I look forward to seeing inside that barn before long, and will share it here.🎬🤗
@@vincebreen3-55 Also, where exactly is the merry-go-round?
@@LisaKEntertainment the Merry-go-round is off of Crystal Springs rd and Fire Road south of the LA zoo They used to have a train ride there as well.
Sooo cool.
Hey Lisa! I have not been here, but have walked around "Train Town" a few years ago (where many movies and TV shows have been filmed). I was just at the Redwood Valley RR at Tilden Park, in the Berkeley hills here in Norcal. Beautiful trip through redwood trees. And of course, there's Roaring Camp RR near Santa Cruz, which has a big Shay (through even bigger Redwood trees!).
Thanks for the recommendation for Tilden Park. I lived in San Francisco for five years, before heading to L.A. but never experienced that train ride.
@@LisaKEntertainment Another vote for Tilden. It's a beautiful ride.
@@thomasbeutel7931 Appreciate your feedback. I put it on the calendar for December.
Now that was interesting! I knew there was a rail museum in Griffith Park (it's shown up in a lot of TV shows and movies when a railroad location was needed) but had no idea there was an active miniature railroad there. It sure seems to bring joy to an awful lot of people! Thanks for bringing us along Lisa! Love your enthusiasm!
Thanks for watching, once again, Wayne, and for your warm words. And I bet you'd heard of www.griffithparktrainrides.com/ I have been planning on going there on a future episode, for sure. And I will definitely return to see my L.A. Steamers friends : )
@@LisaKEntertainment I've heard of the Travel Town railroad but the Griffith Park & Southern's a new one on me! Thanks for the heads-up! See, it's a wasted day if you don't learn something new!
That was fun to watch, it was great that you had a chance to talk to the general public that we love to share the place we enjoy. The members put their heart and soul into the organization and the reward always the smiles from everybody who gets to enjoy it. Come back anytime. David.
@@lazman111 Thanks for your thoughtful comment, David - and for your cameo this episode, showing me the Pennsylvania you built!
@@LisaKEntertainment this was an excellent video! You have an open invitation to come back anytime. -Michael

Two other destinations; Balboa Park in San Diego has a dedicated building for RR clubs, like the La Mesa Club. And in Vista, CA is the tractor & Steam Engine museum, and they have a club layout of Donner Pass that's pretty cool. In San Pedro, by the Korean Bell, there is the Belmont Shore Club layout. and, Pasadena has a big club layout. In Bakersfield, gottacsee the Gehams club layout, which is a converted department store.
Thank you for all of these great locations! My dad has a new customer who is a member of the club in Balboa Park... so been thinking I needed to pay a visit sometime. Balboa Park is beautiful, and I haven't been in forever. I will make note of all of those other clubs, too!
@@LisaKEntertainment Balboa: don't leave anything in your car.
@@chipset2900 Thanks for the tip!
Lisa, you need to plan a trip to Train Mountain, in Chilicothe, OR. Specifically for their Triennial meet.
Doesn't look like it's a thing anymore... but if you find a link, please add it here : )
You met a lot of great people. Railroading and model railroading is about history and human interaction. Another great video!!
I sure did! And thank you so much! And agreed.
I had ridden this once as a child but completely lost track that it was still there and operational. So interesting to find out that Mike from TS was a live steamer; I had no idea!🚂
Hi Ken, a star of my Train Shack episode : ) I know, right!?!?!?!? Wasn't that the most fun. Human connection / community building in action big time, through trains, from that Saturday meeting you at The Train Shack, and then the very next day seeing Michael once again. Such a fun surprise.
❤ Fabulous Lisa!
@@susankonczal9398 Thanks so much, Susan ☺️

Amazing work Lisa
Thank you so much. Hope you're doing well!
Great video Lisa. Enjoyed that very much. Did you get to visit Cleveland during 4th of July? Enjoy the rest of your summer. 👊🏼😎
Not really, unfortunately. I flew into Cleveland and was in Chagrin Falls for a quick two nights... but I did make a visit to an old family (train) friend, as well. I could have talked to him for way more hours, and look forward to having him show me more / another visit next year. You'll meet him on here before long : )

Looks like a nice place , in scary Los Angeles!
Have you ever been to Los Angeles? I suppose I don't spend a lot of time in Los Angeles proper (post, my years living there), but the greater L.A. area has so much beauty and whatever you're into... and Griffith Park is a blessing in its city surroundings. Have a lovely day : )
Keep up the excellent work ❤it

@@glennac thank you so much! Yes, it was a lot of work, creating this 18 minute short lol Appreciate you exploring my other entertainment on here, especially this - the first doc short I ever made back in 2007.
@@LisaKEntertainment Though I live out in San Gabriel Valley, I’ve been going to The Train Shack for a couple of decades now. One of the things about Mindy, Todd, and the rest of the crew there is they are one of the few shops around that still does repairs & installations. Other train stores have stopped doing repairs now. Not sure if it’s just a cost/time/benefit thing or maybe a liability issue. Is that something your Dad does in his shop? (Haven’t watched that video yet) Thanks! I won’t trouble you any further.🤓
@@glennac When my dad has time, he will take on a repair. Otherwise, he refers repairs to a customer / train friend who does that work, as well. Generally, most repairs come in around the end of year holidays, at which time my dad is full on and can’t take them on. He really needs to charge more - and even still, it just isn’t very sustainable to do many repairs unless he’s up for working overtime.
(Just my opinion from my experience there) And I realize that for many people, they are happy to pay for even an attempt to fix their old and sentimental locomotive because of the family ties to it.
I used to live next to master train builder, we'll let me tell you there is some real work that goes into building trains.
