This song is called "Stones" and it is from an ancient computer role playing game called Ultima V - Warriors of Destiny, published by Origin Systems in 1988. I knew David Watson, who wrote this. Taught me about carving crossbows, in fact. I once asked him for a tab and he just laughed and said it was written on a napkin in a pub. Fantastic guy.

Ultima VI war mein "Urknall", und der Song Stones hat die Atmosphäre von Ultima wie kein anderer geprägt. Diese idyllische Melancholie, man möchte einfach sofort durch ein Moongate nach Britannia reisen können.
+Christian „BerZerK“ Skwirblis: das ging mir auch so: viel zur mystischen Atmosphäre beigetragen hat auch, dass ich damals kaum Englisch verstanden habe. Und weil ich keine Anleitung zum Spiel hatte, musste ich die Runenschrift mühsam und mit viel Ausprobieren entziffern ;-)
Genau, am meisten Englisch gelernt hatte ich mit dem Spiel und die Runen kann ich heute noch ;-)

@mikelpify, This is the Key of G, not B flat. It is very close to B b, but as you can see... he is playing A minor and G major. For it to be B flat, he would be playing A dim and G min as the roots.

Very nice! Master Iolo / David Watson (who wrote "Stones") taught it to me many years ago, long before it was linked to Garriot's game. I daresay that you play it more cleanly than I can. Practice shows! Well done, sir! But I ask you this... can you sing it 'round a campfire and have folk join in? :-D
Thanks for your comment Corrie. I'm excited to hear you know Iolo personally :) It's awesome how Watson's tune inspires so many people all around the world after all this time. The last time I've played guitar at a campfire is many years ago now (and I could barely strum some chords back then). I guess recently I'm more a living room performer and my sole audience is my wife and sometimes the internet ;)
Greetings Corrie, I've always wanted to talk to Iolo, since I was a kid playing Ultima VI. Is it true that he's a bowyer in real life? I think sometimes that his character was one of the influences that inspired me to start making bows. And Andre, that was a fantastic rendition of the song. It's in my favorites. Ironically, I just remembered that my avatar for youtube is from the cover of U6. Too funny!
Yes, David makes very fine period-reproduction crossbows. New World Arbalest www.crossbows.net/ Tell him the city and year and he'll make something that looks like it was stolen from a museum. And they shoot straight and smooth!
