In the Groove - Mike Conrick | ABRSM 2023-2024 C: 1 | Piano Cover
‘In the Groove’ by Mike Conrick is a piece featured in the Grade 5 ABRSM 2023-2024 exam catalogue for piano. It is one of the more versatile pieces in the book, with articulation being entirely up to the player and doesn’t require an absolute accurate ‘swing’, as they call it. However, it does consume a lot of energy with the many accents scattered here and there, along with the staccatos. As a player that leans more towards slow songs, I felt my stamina waver through the end of the song. As a result, though I intended the song to sound more ‘pop’, it ended up sounding jazzier.
It’s been a while since I uploaded, due to my recent exams and such! I’ve been trying to get back on track with the recordings and all, but it’ll probably take a bit of time. And what’ll probably end up happening is a dump of videos being uploaded in one day (LOL). I’m gonna try explore newer and modern songs, so see you in the next video!
