My Off-Grid Story
Me and my wife sold my apartment in a good suburban area close to the capital of our country and bought old abandoned farm in the middle of nowhere. We've built our first house there, which is out tiny house. And now we are continuing to develop our property and live here.
On this channel we post videos about our life off-grid, sharing all the progress we've done here.
Hopefully our story will inspire you. And if we could do it - you can do it too!

Interior work kickoff. You wanted to see the BASEMENT?
In this video I'm starting with interior works of my man cave. We still call it "Manscave" btw. But before that I'm trying to cut trees for the first time in my life. While doing electrical work in the man cave, I'm having some issues with wiring circuit breaker, but it was a great chance to show you what's in the basement of our main home, which is tiny home. You asked me for months to see it ...

I bet I would deal with bureaucracy longer than the build itself in Germany 😂 Thank you ☺️
Those stairs without the railing makes me panic.
We added railings a week after the video came out 😁
Ngl it looks like a Minecraft house but it was built the first day😂 But it's a really cozy house ❤️
I love Minecraft 😁 never thought about the house this way
The cheap looking Home Depot style windows don't do it for me.
Actually windows are custom made and that cheap 😜
What are the plans for the existing house? Would love to see inside.
We wanted to rebuild it, but easier to demolish it and built a new one on its place.
Great great job guys. You should be very proud of your beautiful home. Love it. Enjoy your lives together everyday.
Thank you so much! ☺️☺️☺️
I forgot to show the basement.
Yes 😇 but we have it in other videos
did u specificly build ur house in usa style or is it all russian people build their house's walls out of wood too?
You installed the door backwards. All exterior doors are supposed to open into the home. Why? To keep the hinges on the inside of the home. Otherwise someone can just pop your hinge pins and just pull your door out? Unless this is some weird Russian door that is designed this way. Otherwise wtf ?
It’s some weird Swedish door designed that way. Show me door that opens outside and has hinges on the inside.
Shingles on a low-pitch roof ??? That doesn’t seem right. What did the manufacturer of the shingles list as the minimum roof pitch ??
You are correct. It’s too low pitch for shingles. But, I have 22mm OSB panels underneath sealed together. So if any water somehow comes under the shingles, it will just come out from underneath.
So you “hung” the first floor from a few bolts into the side of the cinder blocks. Not advisable at all. All weight loads should always be stacked on top of another structural member. Whenever you hang something from a board that’s bolted into anything you are relying on that fastener to hold. 20-30 years from now if any water gets to those bolts, and they rust away, what is going to hold up the first floor? I recommend adding some posts underneath at those boards to ensure all weight loads are transferred to the ground, and not relying on the integrity of some bolts. Ideally, all your floor boards should have been long enough to sit on top of the cinder blocks. But too late for that now.
There are blocks under the loaded board, that holds floor. It was done that way so I can change the whole floor in the future without touching anything else.
Must have edited title…couple isn’t in it now. Lay off his partner already….I’m sure she is doing her part. We are building right now and I make sure my partner has meals, hydration, clean work clothes and I do construction grunt work and all around gopher ( go for this, go for that).
Yeah, we’re experimenting with title time to time 😁 people were mad in comments, because they didn’t see enough us together on a video

Quantum tech hd ?

Beautiful, great job . God Bless you .
Thank you! You too! 👼
This is cold can you give us the blue print pls 😊
I don’t have it, unfortunately. But sizes are 4x5x5 meters 😉
Assistindo do Brasil 🇧🇷🙏
Thank you so much ☺️☺️☺️
It's a beautiful tiny house! Where is the living room?
No living room 😁 we have not enough space for it. But we have pretty big bedroom 😁
Awesome, nice and cozy
Thank you! 😊
When did you learn how to build houses? Did you go to school for it?
I did not go to building school. I knew a couple things from working on construction in high school. But most of the stuff I’ve learned from the internet. In particular here on TH-cam. Perkins Builder Brothers, RR Builders, Wild Wonderful Off-Grid, Good Simple Living. Matt Risinger and many more 😁 these are my favorite channels. Also Mindsparx - this guy builds in Sweden. Very cold climate. So techniques are fantastic
@@my_off-grid_story that’s all I needed to hear! I’m excited man. You did a great job man.
I want to build this from scratch. I know I will need someone along my side with years of experience but once I buy my land I’m going for it.
It’s going to be one of the best experiences of tour life 😁 I promise 😉
@@my_off-grid_story I can just feel it too
Great build. It look like it is in Latvia ore in Lithuania. Great countries and beautiful country side.
Thanks. It’s actually Estonia 😁 you were close
Sürekli bu videoları izleyip ev yapasım geliyor.Sanırım başlarsamda 10 yıl falan sürecek heralde yapımı :)
I finally found the building method I wanted on TH-cam! Are there any water leakage issues in the basement when living in it?”
No leakages. Pump works pretty well. And walls are isolated properly
You did such an amazing job!!! Great work!
Thank you so much!! ☺️
How do you access the basement, as seen when building your home.
We have a hatch in the floor to get there ☺️
who's the man???!!! YOU'RE THE MAN!!!!
Thanks, man! 👊
Gdybym miał takiego brata, nie musiałbym mieszkać w bloku. Pozdrawiam Was gorąco.
How is this place off-grid, when it's literally on the power grid (you mentioned a recent blackout) without autonomous power supply? The house is literally in the shadow of another much larger house next door so clearly the main utilities are all nearby. Also, aren't you planning on having children at some point?
You’re correct. We re not completely off-grid. We do get our electricity from the grid 😇 but the bigger house on the background is very old and unlivable 😂 so this does not count as a house
5:25 Hello friend, what is the name of that plastic roll? thank you
It’s called GuttaBetta or something like this. It’s a special basement outer walls cover
You have a gorgeous shirt. What is it called?
What does the basement look like?
what is this green material?
Tuuletõkkeplaat is the name around here. It’s kinda windshield, but the outer part is water repellent. We use it a lot in our region 😉
@my_off-grid_story did a quick Google. It's a windproof fiber board . Something similar is used here in Sweden too sometimes. I was trying to figure out where this was. Your builbing technique is similar, but just a little different. Well done mate!
@@ursixx thanx. I actually watched one Swedish guy’s channel. He builds houses using Swedish techniques. Very good channel. Mindsparx was the name or something like that.
Well done and so talented man... but why there are no stairs between ground and 1st floor?
There is a hatch to access basement in the first floor 😁 it’s just not in the video
You did a great job building your home well done
this guy? is a living legend. solo grinding
What are the dimensions of this house PLZ ?
4x5x5 meters
I am seriously needing to know if there is access to the "basement" from inside the house. I saw no entrance at all either from outside or inside. Which makes me wonder why you bothered to build one to begin with?
There is a hatch in the floor to access it 😉
This is amazing. Well done.
Thank you very much!
Amazing job
