PCS Train Series Part 5 - Steam!
I felt this deserved its own video to wrap up this series. I took both of my boys on the Woodstown Central's Santa Claus Special with their Grandma. This train was being pulled by SMS Lines recently returned to service 0-6-0 #9. I caught the engine running around the train and then after our trip it again with its train. SMS did an amazing job on the restoration and the ride was first class; both boys loved it! I would highly recommend any other their rides!

My last port call in San Diego and time before my flight back to Washington got me a little time to railfan and I decided to see somewhere new. I remembered Fullerton from the Surfliner ride to LA so I took the train up and hung out for an hour and a half. A port call in SD gave me and a few friends a couple days to run up to LA for a Dodgers game and see some old friends. Also, a little time at LA Union Station. Walked around some and caught a Surfliner heading to SD along the LA River, a Metrolink with some vintage power, and light rail action. Filmed Jul 21-22.

Steam Still Runs in Snoqualmie Pass

Father's Day Weekend the family did a hike around Snoqualmie Falls and its also happened to be one of the weekends when the Northwest RR Museum ran Northern Pacific 924 a 0-6-0 built by the Rodgers Locomotive Works in 1899. We caught it a few times before and after our hike. It was a treat hearing her whistle during the hike echoing in the mountains. Filmed June 15, 2024 in North Bend, WA.

What an epic fail. Amtrak wanted nothing to do with Pensacola and I don’t blame then.
Yeah no, we want our service back, it's just things are complicated now that CSX sold the trackage and the quality of the track has fallen.

Take exit #373 from I-95, go East towards Yulee. You are on The Buccaneer Trail (CR 200). Go through Yulee and soon you'll get to the Amelia River, where this bridge is.

AGR is no longer a shortline
Tried getting this unit NKP together in Valdosta but didn't have any luck with that. Wound up getting the NKP in Memphis the day UP 844 arrives. Some railfans got extra lucky that day.

NS doesn't pull from the CSX. They do pull daily from the Alabama State Docks, which is where they are coming back from in this video. The CN and AGR also use this crossing to get back to their yards. The GM&O and the old Southern RR buildings are right next to each other at the south end of the NS South yard, which is mostly used for storage. You won't see much train movement around there except for light Engines leaving from in front of the NS Depot.

I understand, but that's not the CSX yard it's coming out of, but the State Docks yard. As an engineer for NS in Mobile yard, I made that trip several times a day for almost 6 years. You might find it interesting to check out the tracks where the CSX mainline comes in and crosses over to their yard. It looks like the same yard, but it's actually a completely separate yard. The CSX has one crossover track into the State Docks, that runs into Track #1 at ASD. They need permission to enter just like the CN, NS and AGR.
