From the go lights to crash it is all there, this is what it shows: The Merc was faster off the line and at all points during the lap. Max sees this immediately in his mirrors and knows he is in trouble. He cuts every corner to carry speed and is constantly checking his mirrors. Lewis knows he needs to make the pass because if Max gets his tyres up to temp and solves whatever the problem is, the race could be over. Max knows if Lewis makes the pass he could disappear with this amount of excess speed. Lewis attempts the first pass on the Wellington Straight. But he does not have the line because Max brakes insanely late. But unlike Brazil, it is a legal defense because he stays on track and does not push Lewis off. But he is in big trouble. Lewis has a clear run on him to do his favourite pass at Copse. Max weaves past the old pits and touches his brakes for a split second. Lewis has a 17 kph advantage and Max knows the pass is coming because he can see it in his mirrors. Both approach Copse flat and do not brake to turn in. Lewis makes the dummy outside pass and Max covers it. But he cannot get back on line as Lewis has already drawn level before the apex. Their nonsense ruling was the first time in F1 history a driver was punished for an accident he braked hard to avoid. Max never braked, and the FIA refused to hear Merc's defense. But they did hear a submission by RBR to make the penalty worse!!!! Disgusting is not the word to describe what happened that week. It set up the Monza, Brazil, Jeddah and aAbu Dhabi disasters to all be resolved in Max's favour. It was corrupt.
