This verse beautifully captures the essence of sādhu-saṅga, or association with devotees, emphasizing mutual support and exchange among those on the path of devotion. There are six kinds of activities: (1) giving charity to the devotees, (2) accepting from the devotees whatever they may offer in return, (3) opening one’s mind to the devotees, (4) inquiring from them about the confidential service of the Lord, (5) honoring prasāda, or spiritual food, given by the devotees, and (6) feeding the devotees with prasāda. An experienced devotee explains, and an inexperienced devotee learns from him. This is guhyam ākhyāti pṛcchati.
In the association of experienced devotees, new or less experienced devotees learn the deeper principles of devotional life, known as guhyam ākhyāti pṛcchati, the confidential sharing and learning of spiritual truths. Accepting prasāda with reverence and sharing it, as bhuṅkte bhojayate caiva describes, reminds us that the remnants of food offered to the Lord are a sacred mercy, carrying Kṛṣṇa's presence and blessings. By inviting pure devotees and serving them with prasāda, we align ourselves more closely with devotional principles, as these exchanges nurture a spirit of service and reinforce our dedication.
Each of these practices strengthens relationships among devotees, supports personal spiritual growth, and invites Kṛṣṇa’s grace into daily life.
