The Edinburgh Festival Carnival is a free event that takes place every July, presenting more than 800 international and local performers, and taking residents and visitors on a vibrant global musical journey.
There is fun and entertainment for the family throughout the afternoon, providing a free day out, thanks to the support of City of Edinburgh Council.
With a combination of professionals and amateurs, the Carnival is an adventure in rhythm and melody with music, dance, colourful costumes and street entertainment.

In 2023 through resources from the UK governments Turing Scheme, performing arts students from Edinburgh College travelled in San Isidro, Costs Rica to work with local performers. Together they created a new piece of dance, theatre, circus and music work that was presented to children and young people.

Turing Scheme - Brazil 2023

Thanks to the Turing Scheme, we sent young dancers and musicians from Edinburgh College to Salvador, Brazil to work with our partner 'Banda Dida'. Together, they developed a new carnival performance work, culminating in a performance at Salvador Carnival. Check out this amazing account of their experiences.
