Classical Laminate Theory
Classical Laminate Theory (CLT) is an engineering theory used to predict the mechanical behavior of laminated composite materials. Laminates are composed of multiple layers (plies) of different materials, such as fibers and a matrix, stacked together to form a single, unified structure.
CLT is primarily used for predicting the effective properties of laminates. These properties refer to the composite material's behavior as a whole, considering the combined effects of all the individual layers.

Macromechanics of a Ply
มุมมอง 30811 หลายเดือนก่อน
The macromechanics of a ply in the context of mechanics of composite materials refers to the study of the mechanical behaviour and properties of individual layers, or plies, within a composite material structure. In composite materials, which are made up of two or more different materials combined at a macroscopic level, each ply contributes distinct mechanical properties. These properties incl...
Sharing my ERC grant experience - How to prepare your ERC proposal?

In this presentation, I'll be discussing three main points. First, I'll delve into the key criteria for an ERC Starting Grant. Then, I'll share my own application story. Finally, I’ll use my example to show how we can address some burning questions associated with these criteria. How do we determine the strain of the composite (epsilon c)?

    • @mechanicsforengineers
      @mechanicsforengineers 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use PMMA-SU8 composite as an example, the composite strain is the same as the strain of matrix or fibre, as this is assuming an equal strain for long fibre composite. This can be measured directly from the bulk sample from strain gauge or camera system. The strain of graphene will be measured and calculated by the Raman shift -strain relationship.
