Gosch Kennels has been breeding Small Munsterlander hunting dogs since 1996. We hunt them as much as possible on wild pheasants, quail, and waterfowl. We usually have several litters a year. Lola didn't think much of that bird in the water so the other pup, Ashoka, ended up with it. Not bad of -1 F outside.

What gun are you using?
Stoeger M2000 that is about 20 years old.
@smallmunster I thought it looked like an m2000. I have the same gun in black.
Nice dogs and video. No screaming yelling or blowing a whistle. Refreshing to see how bird hunting is supposed to be.

Nice videos. I’ve watched day 1 and day 2. What guide service did you use? Also what lake and area? Would like to make a trip up to South Dakota and get a guide
We used Waubay Lake Guide service on that trip.

@@Tyler1738 I can't remember but it was usually smaller sloughs that I had never heard of before. I don't think it was any of the big well known lakes up there.

Are you training to flush or are these dogs breaking point?
What you see is the natural pointing they do without any training. Only Dutch has had any whoa training and that was several years ago.

When I was a kid my grandparents had a small Münsterlander. She was so smart, friendly and liked to go hunting or point at cats 😊. This breed is rare outside Germany; I know it only because of my grandparents' dog (I am from Poland)
And we had another hunting dog, also a rare German one, it was Wachtelhund. Overfriendly for people, murderous for animals smaller than him 😂
As I know, one of them is a mixture; both races have the same ancestors

Why do you only hunt males?
You had a good season. Next year, keep track of the your tail feather lengths, be interesting to see what’s longest? Gonna burn anything next Spring? Thanks for sharing.
I measure some of the longer ones, I think the best was only close to 24" this year. Have a some rare ones go over 26" sometimes. The CRP is out of the burning rotation unless it can get re-enrolled again in a few years.

Nice open land - The Munsterlander s Hunting partner is a Falcon or Hawk a Dog breed made by Austringers &Falconers the breed is also considered a versatile breed - s working wounded big game and chasing Boar to pointing under a Falcon 😊 The one I had was even like a Schutz Hund .

Yep. I had one just like that. The old guy died and sold the place, the next farmer ripped-out everything we had planted, broke my heart. Hope this does not happen with yours!
The assumption is that’s a well managed private land, CRP farm ? Let’s hope it stays in the program or, we should say the program stays with it.
This video is all private CRP. It will be interesting to see what is able to be put back in a couple years
