I am in a very similar boat of, coming out of a break up, and trying to reconnect with myself and be alone instead of wanting to look for a new person to date. I’d love to hear more about how you plan on learning to be with yourself. I am currently doing that but I love to hear about how other people try to get to know themselves better and improve their relationships with themselves. ❤ thanks for posting this video and being vulnerable.

I loved this video Ali! It was really relatable for me, and you’re full of wisdom and helpful advice! My first girlfriend got a new girlfriend whilst still with me (😬), which I found out about way too late, and my ex boyfriend started seeing a new girl THE DAY AFTER we broke up (we broke up because he’d cheated on me). It’s really hard, especially when you’re not ready to move on yourself, but it does not mean that the relationship meant nothing or that they lied about how they felt about you, or that you weren’t good enough, or that the new person is better and they like them better than they ever liked you (I thought all of these things both times). And often, people try to move on to try to avoid the grieving phase that you mentioned. People deal with break ups differently and when people deal with them differently to us, it hurts because we don’t understand it. But you are showing such strength and progress, and you are definitely dealing with and thinking of the break up with a healthy approach, which will definitely help your healing and wellbeing in the long run. This is making me remember one specific relationship and the full blown panic when they moved on so quickly with someone they barely knew. The realization that my ex was a completely different person than I thought they were was terrifying. His story has ended up kind of sad in some ways because of his own choices and I am blissfully married to someone else and we have two children now. In the moment the horror and excruciating even physical pain is so real. No one else is going through exactly what you are, every relationship is so different. So much has been taken from you that you thought was good. Your heart wasn’t made for goodbyes like this. You’re such a beautiful person and there is so much pure peace and joy in you. You are so worthy of unconditional love!

I appreciate how much bravery this will have taken to post. Break ups are so, so hard and uploading this video and showing people they aren’t alone is so important. So thank you, I wish you the best. You’ll be looking back on this video next year feeling so proud of how far you’ve come xx
