Fun video . But this dude has clearly fallen into the dangerous audiophile trap of chasing the perfect sound, doing constant shootouts, nitpicking subtle differences and splitting hairs about this pressing vs. that pressing. Just enjoy the music for what it is. Also what's with the manic Mike Lindell energy?

your collection is absolutely insane! especially the origional pink floyd master with the yellow strip on top, the origional japanese led zepplin record with the japanese translation sleeve and then the maggot brain funkadelic record!! ive been looking for that maggot brain record for years! insane respect for your dedication to your record man. keep it up

That's hilarious. I was looking around a bit for that TG pressing too out of curiosity. Come to think of it, ONE GUY, ONLY ONE said that specific pressing was good, as a couple others just referred to the early canadian red labels sounding good. I guess that's all it takes to create a mini hype train. 😂

Great finds brother !

Sweet finds man, can't believe you found most of these in person. I live in LA and my local record stores don't have anything nearly this cool, and when they do the prices are bonkers. The "coolest" find I made in person this year was a VG+ pressing of Fresh Cream on the UK Reaction Record label. I did cheat a little, and for Christmas I ordered online original UK pressings of Ram and Layla in NM.

Half speed is just a gimmick. Sell more of the same records. FOMO.

According tot Discogs thread, the 2016 version is the analog cut and the 2020 although looks the same, same sticker, barcode, etc. is digital. Would be interesting to do a comparison between the 1/2 speed and the 2016 (or the others that share the same/similar matrix such as the 2012 and the box set which are supposed to be all analog)

I did not buy the 50th Ziggy record, not because it was half speed mastered , but more because it was half speed mastered from the 2012 digital remaster.

Here is a bad example of half speed mastering digitally. Abbey Road half speed master re-issues of the Rolling Stones. They simply suck! Lifeless and dead! They turned half speed mastering into a dirty word.

Love your videos! Subscribed instantly upon listening to your jazz vinyl tag. Interesting pick for #1. I agree with all your choices and own them all. So many people would have picked Kind of Blue or A Love Supreme as their #1. I love Dexter Gordon with his big warm tone. Keep up the good work and welcome to the VC!

Interesting discussion. I have that 2020 ziggy stardust and have the 50th on order. I am glad you hear such an improvement. The only other half speed I have is the recent police greatest hits, which was ok apart from some surface noise, but I don’t have any police on vinyl to compare. With the ziggy I will be able to do my own shootout. I thought the 2020 pressing did have a bit of a digital sheen to it. Your video looked like you were trying to hide your identity! Turn you camera, so it is not pointing towards the windows.

Hey Dan! Some great blues you were showing…excited to see how far you get down that hole. Super cool you’re really taking expanding your tastes seriously. That’s one of the best parts of collecting to me. If you haven’t checked em out already you should check out the albums It’ll All Work Out In Boomland by T2 and In From The Cold by Ashkan. Two of my favorites in the psych/prog/hard blues realm. Cheers man!
