Removing fuel injectors in diesel trucks can be a drawn out task, especially if you’ve never had to remove one before. They are tough to pry out but it can be done if you know what you’re looking for. This particular one is in a CAT engine. It's pretty straightforward.

    Cmon man if your doing a customers car just get a 30$ torque wrench just to stay safe I do my own tires by hand but i wouldn’t do it by hand for a customer

      These are made to go straight to the tire shop 😅 You don’t put it in the back bc all the stability comes from the rear axle.. you always put the better tires in the back.

      It doesn't matter at all, you're not supposed to drive the car regularly if a donut is installed anyway. They have a speed limit label on the wheel usually.

    In all seriousness, keep donut spares in the back. Way safer and won’t damage drivetrain. Especially in front wheel drive vehicles. I honestly don’t get why car companies even issue these tires as a spare

      Somebody hasn't had much experience with scissor jacks. They are made cheaply, and are crap.... some will strip threads after only 1 or 2 uses. I carry a bottle jack in my trunk, and would NEVER depend on a scissor jack.

    Here in the southwest where smuggling is prevalent, money, drugs and people, a non factory compartment will get your truck searched every time especially if you are not logging sleeper berth time. Glad it is working out for you.

      @@Dr.marvello it honestly depends on who you ask. The gurus may say that this exceeds the amount of blowby they recommend. To me this is manageable, but I’m also fine with riding my truck until it doesn’t work anymore. So I’m not necessarily a good judge.

    My 2.7 litre non turbo kia j2 diesel has enough blowby to make to oil cap dance but there are no fumes just air. Ive heard that some blowby is normal on a brand new engine. My engine has 200000 kilometres on it should i be concerned or is that nothing to worry about?

      @@hellohello8556 Yea from what I gather some blowby is expected on all engines. But the only way to really tell is to buy a blowby meter, and find out the manufacturer’s expected amount of it. We can guess and speculate but the manufacturers will say what’s recommended. I believe in riding the truck until it just doesn’t work anymore, but that’s just me.

      @ unfortunately that’s my mentality as well. We’ll have to cross that bridge when we get there. If you read the comments though you’ll see it’s a few people who’ve had extreme blowby and the machines are still running. Just be prepared for when it does decide to quit on you.

    Caterpillar c7 engine i know these engines like the back of my hand school bus mechanic here for over 25: years now we have Cummins great engines until the injector cups crack then its big money and a lot of downtime

      @Masskular now that we have the Cummins isb I love them as well a lot more to deal with with the emissions the EGR plugs up we have a ton of def problems and DPF and doc and scr but the older Cummins are stronger the newer Cummins from 2020 and newer have weak camshafts thanks for the reply back and good luck to you

    Why would you spray brake cleaner after the repair?? You should have cleaned the mess before hand. And also clean the plug. Brake cleaner can make your seals warp and expand especially o rings. Tightened it first. Idk... Ppl work differently

    You should clean the plug before installing the new o ring and it’s not a bad idea to locktite the threads on those, they like to leak around the threads.

      @@7.3PSDA2 it’s a CAT 3126 but did you know that the C7 was just a slight change from the 3126. They basically have most of the same parts. Same filters and all. Think the injectors are different though. C7 is just newer.

      @ Yes i couldnt see the intake side. i have both c7 and 3126E the intake side of the head is larger on the 3126 then the c7 the injectors are little different the head on the c7 flow wise does flow a little better. the rod journals on the 3216E are a tiny bit different as well. the tuning is also different plus if the engine is from a school bus or a say dump truck the engine mounts will be different and the oil pan and sump will be different. most school busses have front sump were the dump truck and box trucks have rear sump. the fly wheel on the school bus also is different. its inset about 1/4 inch.

    Hell yeah that Doug house was coving a 3126 cat Heui engine. High pressure oil galley plug. Proud of you bro most drivers these days would have taken it somewhere and overpaid to have someone like me fix it.

Yea man I’m an owner operator, so I take pride in being able to fix stuff myself. Once broke down in Minnesota needing an alternator on my box truck with a C7 engine. Pulled up to a Napa. Paid the $600 for it and put it on right in the parking lot. Can only imagine what that bill might have been.

    Finally I see someone use Brake parts cleaner when checking for an oil leak. I want to see the area CLEAN , not just wiped. Good job doing it the right way. Don’t gotta do nothing but the area. People act like a can of brake cleaner which can create the visibility you need and save you a bunch of time is wasting money but will stare at an oil soaked motor checking for the leak to be fixed.

      @@alexandergunaka666 Yea brake cleaner will clean an area up quick and it dries fast, that’s what I like most about it. I usually catch it on sale 2 for $7. And I’ll but like 10 of them. I wear gloves alot and I use brake cleaner to clean them as well as long as it isn’t holes in them….. They’re giving me a lot of flack in the comments, because I failed to use the break cleaner to spray the oil galley plug after removing it lol Was a little in a rush.

      Looks like a 3126. It's a HEUI engine, the injection system was codeveloped with Navistar for the 7.3 PSD.

The injection system was codeveloped with Navistar, the injectors are nearly identical to the 7.3PSD, the compression tester adapter is the same (goes in the injector hole). Cat and Navistar have quite a bit of combined projects, for better or worse, including the CAT branded truck.

      @aaronfrancois3996 he didn't clean the set plug up he put all the dirt that was on his gloves in side instead of making sure it was clean . But wasted cleaner after he put it back together.

      @ totally! lots of techs skip the o-ring part! ive inspected countless pieces of equipment where zero maintenance has been performed and now need very costly repairs because of it! routine maintenance is cheap insurance!
