So true. I've played a bit of MW5:Clans so far. It's an upgrade from Mw5: Mercs from a "narrative" and "presentation" of story.. However, I honestly am not overly impressed with anything else. Bugs/Glitches aside which can be ironed out.. The 16 Mechs available.. While good, is simply such a small amount for a MechWarrior game. I understand the lore and this is the beginning of Clan Invasion.. But it just seems.. half baked. Also it has virtually 0 replay value after you beat it. Something Mw5: Mercs has almost unlimited value with.. especially on PC with Mods. And the combat.. it's basically just like Mercs.. The upgrade to the Unreal5 Engine isn't really felt and it doesn't really look that much better, if at all from Mercs. MechWarrior Online still completely rules them both with Mech vs Mech combat, the overall feel and speed/Power of the mechs.. Physics and just general Mechwarrior gameplay. Don't even get me started on the MechLab... In which MWO completely obliterates both Mercs and Clans easily.

@@houseforqall MW5 clans cant be compared to Mercs, its far better. I played Mercs when it just came out without any mods and i can hardly remember a worse game. Nothing in it was worth praising. Ive yet to see a single fps game which has procedurally generated map that actually adds replayability. Only games that nailed that was Heroes 3, Diablo 2 and PoE. And none of them are fps/tps. Mercs had terrible story, terrible voice acting, worst AI ive ever seen(at launch they literally spawned behind you the second you turned), worse gameplay than MWO, worse graphics than MWO, terrible soundtrack. I mean i cant praise anything in it. Except it added full IS galaxy and a gameplay loop for you to do ops in any faction then repair afterwards. Thats it, and yet there's no meaning behind anything you do. No goal other than getting more mechs. To me that has no replayability. Btw i played MW5mercs again about a year ago, with alot of mods. Its still meaningless gameplay, more polished compared to launch but still a shell of a game at best. MW5clans just came out, and we dont know about any mods yet. Also, to your statement that it has no replay value. I finished it in about 28 hours, and now im on my second campaign. I dont know about you but great storytelling and narration does add replayability by itself. Just go simpod and play any mission with any mech loadout. There's like 40 distinct missions. To me that beats out any procedurally generated crap. More so if we ever get continuation of the story with dlcs.

@fistan5447 Mercs was rubbish when it first came out. However all the DLCs severely added to it and made it into a far better game than it was initially. The AI still sucks.. and if you have played Clans.. then you know the AI in clans is of absolutely 0 improvement. The hand crafted missions of clans is far superior. The story is far superior. But it's a one and done game. If you play through it once.. solo, the only thing you can do after that is maybe do a full coop run. Which just like Mercs is the superior way to play. But after that. Mechwarrior 5 clans has absolutely no replayability in its current state. There is no reason to play it again. Which is a bummer. It would of been nice to have like a "survival instant action mode" for to play in solo and coop where you basically level your star and chosen mechs in like a gauntlet style mission. But it has none of that. Just a campaign. A solid campaign, but nothing beyond that. Think it like Space Marine 2, but if space marine 2 didn't have the multiplayer component. It wouldn't be nearly as fun in the long run.

@fistan5447 Story DLC is definitely coming. Smoke Jaguar is just the beginning of the invasion. But the question is will they have the same polish with custom cinematic, characters etc.. especially if they do the other clans. The title Mechwarrior 5: Clans does lead to believe that it's expandable with all the others in the future. But I wonder if the budget of new cinematic and polish or storytelling is in the cards for "DLC"

@fistan5447 Also, mercs lent itself to Mods from the get go. The idea of a sandbox style map and go anywhere approach to mercs (especially in career mode) was conceptually built by the developers from modding from the earliest concepts. Mw5:Clans is a linear game. Doesn't have too much of a sandbox to it, if any at all.

@rustedmetal6322 haha I plan to do some more videos. It's not nearly p2w as people say! I'm actually mostly f2p and I do just fine! It's really about the community and org/squad you are with! There isn't really the p2w ships like people say! And even f2p have a chance of easily getting them. They practically give stuff away most of the time! 🤣

@rustedmetal6322 Yea. It definitely takes inspiration. There is some Halo UNSC stuff in there too. But the ships definitely have their own thing. The game has great lore

@larrykelbaughjr.1831 I'm loving it now. I'm getting some good ships! I just got Constantine the Great yesterday and I got St59 module the day before. If you are active and play the game and in a good Org/squad it's a very rewarding game. Plus do the dawn agreement and basically invest your proxima to get more its very f2p friendly

@austinbird3961 Honestly its even one of the better f2p options out there. They give quite a bit to the players for just playing the game. I may make a short video on here of how to just play casually as a f2p player and get the best out of it each time you play. And honestly if you're willing... the battlepass price of $15 is all you would ever need to really be just as competitive. With the proxima and black box 2.0 quality they give you.. you could then reinvest that proxima in the dawn agreement thing and easily get stipends to buy another black box 2.0 every day. That's not even incoming the galactic events, other events and just overall ease of getting tech files. It's really friendly if you just play the game. I'm by no means a payer in it and I do just fine. Get in a good squad/org and community and you will have lots of fun and be able to do everything the game has to offer right now.

@austinbird3961 Exactly. People are quick to judge before they try it. There are awful p2w other games out there though. This one isn't one of them.

​@houseforqall Totally agreed. I've been playing since day 1 release and it's definitely a fun game with some 'pay to progress' bits. Like ya, you can spend $1000 on boxes but there's no guarantee of getting the thing you're after and you gotta have tech points to invest after getting the blueprints. Just like the rst of you have said; just play the game, learn the mechanics, join a group.. etc.. this isn't a 'pick-up-and-play' game either. That's the only advice I'd give people, if you're looking for a quick play then this isn't it. This game rewards loyalty handsomely.

@rexcolt2628 Maybe give it another look. There is a pretty large playerbase and honestly I'd definitely easy to get into a large org. I just started and I'm doing fine so far. We are up against a larger org or two in the current system but it was still immensely fun. We gave them hell!

Bullshit. The moment someone sends a fully upgraded Spear of Uranus with CAS support cruisers and you have nothing to punch through it, you get your ass reamed.

@honkhonk2427 Well there are going to be times where you will get rocked. But it's as another said, not really about the individual. I've been based and then I had some more advanced friends come over and seek vengeance for me. I aided as well and it was still sweet and glorious!

There is no real "p2w." yeah, *maybe* you can cheese your way into getting ships with A and S stats, but its not stats that matters, its Fleet composition and Team coordination. stats are just a nice bonus Yeah, this guy has bought so many black boxes that he's golded many of his ships. So what? He gets stomped every time he engages in warfare because he doesnt know how to compose a fleet. Meanwhile, Mister "i still use the FG300" has been kicking ass and taking names since the launch of the game. Also, i prefer the steam port over the mobile version. Its much better, and much easier to use.

@Kreschavier Yea the ships are great and the black boxes help but the ships are just tools to be used in the strategy. I have beaten many a "meta" ships with just better ship building strats and fleet composition. Also the battlepass in this game is very giving. You get so much stuff with it ans then if you're smart you take the proxima and save it til like 1000 and then reinvest in the dawn agreement that like triples it

I would never go by steam reviews anyway half the time it’s by people who where ether paid to post or people who tried the gsme first 20 minutes and then saw a way to get online game

Games not centered around individual strength but more of collective strength, The strongest players can still easily be defeated with good tactics and teamwork

@Leviathan-IL Exactly. And honestly the free battlepass throws proxima and research boxes at you as well. Same with the in game events. You can compete and definitely be a viable group and team player completely f2p. I know this because I did it lol

@redfiveg Thank-you yes I can't wait to post some pvp matches ! I started out playing the AIs with some friends because it's a good way to get the hang of game. There is a little more eco early decision making in this game vs classic Total Annihilation which I wasn't expecting. But that's a much better and more modern approach to rts

@aleksitjvladica. haha Beyond All Reason. It has a survival mode. It's tough. You can also play against the standard Arm or Core factions as well. But coop horde mode is never a bad time!

@Kagekaott A great game. I've had it for a bit but just started getting into it a bit more. I loved Total Anniihilation back in the day and Supreme Commander as well. I was very much gaming on PCs during tbr 90s and early 2000s lol

I'm not sure how much it supports all that these days but yes mwo is going strong still.

Definitely a good time to get into MWO. They also have Mw5 Mercs with a bunch of expansions and a standalone Clans game coming this year. However, mWO has seen some of the biggest growth ever In content these last few years. This mech I'm playing here is a brand new mech that just released and is the first Inner sphere OmniMech to mwo !

Well actually I must warn you. While it's hit boxes are solid... It's kind of a glass canon mech. It's a solid skirmisher but definitely don't go brawling with it. You will get cut down quick !

@@houseforqall Not a fan of poptarting or peek fights so good shout. Any mech recommendations for learning that type of fighting? Should round out my playstyle.

If you don't mind, what is your opinion about the centurion? Saw a video on it and it looked good but that was a coordinated team. Not sure how well it'll play out with solo pub player.

@@puddingpoppalpatine-6070 So lately it's hard to say anything is "bad" cauldron have been doing a good job overall of balancing out the mechs.. and there are so many variants of mechs that it's really up to your play style. For instance one of my favorite Timber wolf variants is the Warrant hero mech. It's not a popular mech but if you watch some of my videos with it I generally mess people up with it.

It doesn't run Uber cool with them. You definitely have to fire a volley. Then a second and then chill out and have coolshots for sure !

@@houseforqall That is pretty common but watching it play on the video it is pretty obvious that they have 'over quirked' it. Piranha has been doing this now for a while with these new mechs to try and generate more income but the problem is that none of the standard chassis mechs can possibly hope to keep up with them and of course, you have to pay money to get these new models. I have several laser vomit mechs of the same or even heavier tonnage that move around the same speed and are stuffed full of heat sinks, with comparable armor and they don't even come close to the heat management of that mech, even with less weapons. I have been playing the game since it launched but am starting to move away because of these sort of shenanigans. Shame... its was a great game.

It does have a +1 HSL for mediums lasers. So you can fire 7 at a time without the ghost heat. But after 2 volleys it's pretty much it. You just have to time it right. I do have max skills in all heat management type nodes as well and two coolshots
