Hi, I'm Stevie G, just another music nut. Like something? Want to see more of something? Let me know! This is not a monetized channel. We can do whatever we want.
Cover Reel
Bits and pieces of tracks I've recorded for fun in my home studio for educational purposes. All guitars and vocal parts are me except for my wife doing the high part on Where is My Mind. Drums from various sources, Garage Band, etc.

Rings and Clouds experiment

Wanted my system to be a percussion and bass groove machine that allowed melody lines over the top. Getting closer, but have to transfer it all into a new rack because I planned poorly! Loving the textures of the DPO but don't have a way to show it off to it's full potential yet!

Another weird music video. Having fun working on soundtrack type music, so I thought I'd put something together from an old creepy af government PSA on bike safety. Drums licensed from JimDooley.net. I did the rest.
Busted Ankle Blues
มุมมอง 4178 ปีที่แล้ว
Working out my hybrid picking technique. Wrote my own riff to work on it and just decided to record it seeing as how I've got more downtime with my busted ankle and all. Going nuts not being able to do my usual stuff.
Setting Sun - (remix)

edited down and remixed the previous version into a tight 2:30 song.
Setting Sun

I made friends with the Setting Sun, he makes amends with anyone. Drums licensed from JimDooley.net I sang and played everything else. Writing my own songs was completely inspired by the inventiveness and enthusiasm of Josh Homme of Kyuss and QOTSA. Finding his work completely changed how I listen and think about music.
Like It This Way (Fleetwood Mac cover)

Being a huge fan of the Peter Green/Danny Kirwan era of Fleetwood Mac, I made this fan version with myself singing and playing all the parts.
The Chills
มุมมอง 20K10 ปีที่แล้ว
written and performed by Stevie G. The playing was inspired by artists I grew up listening to like David Gilmour and Jeff Beck. Particularly Pink Floyd's use of "open space" and just letting notes hang in the air.

Live cover. Stevie G is located in the Philadelphia area and currently working on material for live performances. Posted under fair use as a finger-style playing demonstration.
So happy I came across this song. Really great guitars... Shouting out from Tulsa Oklahoma!!!

Nice musical, and sound atmosphère!
💚
Brilliant. Glad I came across this
Happy New Year Steve! Thanks for all the great music!
Thanks! I spent a lot of time last year rebuilding my studio from end to end and repairing my amps! Should really work on more recording this year! Cheers!
I don't know why I kept thinking this was a JTM45, it has a wonderful breakup, amp/guitar and ideal tones. I went on to approach a few clone builders and I referenced 'The Chills' every time. Can you make an amp that breakups like this? A year or so later, I ended up with the Victoria Sovereign. It had too much or too little gain, and the brightness was lacking. I recorded 5 tracks like that before going back to 'The Chills' and rolling the guitar volume knob back to maybe 70% on a high gain setting. I also boosted the top end on the amp and did a little trickery on the mic line EQ. I'm getting closer. Just wanted to be honest. You ended up w/an incredible tone on The Chills. That guitar sounds very professionally done. But I'm living proof that you could spend $$$$ and still be nowhere near as good. This whole demo sounds sweet. Especially Sanctuary. Thank you for this upload! -Jim
Thanks for that. Glad it inspired someone to play more. I do switch heads alot when recording, not using all the same ones. Victoria is a great builder, you should keep that one! (I googled it and found the demo--sweet) One thing I do is always dime the presence knob. That loosens up the top end while maintaining a cleaner punch. I also use an attenuator into a isolated cabinet, so I can run the amp at 6-8. That's where the best light breakup comes from the output tubes and not the preamp. SM57 on a closed-back celestion speaker cabinet is the only other think I've found I can't improve on.
You came on the Gibson guitar forum and said 'Hey all, check out my jams' and haven't heard nor seen you much since. But I saved The Chills and came back all morning today been exploring your channel. THANK YOU, you made it into my 'TH-cam's Best Music' folder with it. And there are 6 others... and I took the best of the last 12 years. Basically since YT was established. Dude, Florida guy here, you need to play that guitar thru this contraption and throw those 3DFX up. I seem to think you're in your 50s. Don't be a stranger!! I'm 47.
Honesty, thank you very much for the encouragement, I really appreciate it. I've been working on improving my vocals and don't really upload if I can't top what's been done or think I can do better. The modular synth stuff is really fun to play with--hoping to create some great beats and textures to play along with. But frankly, I'm kind of at a loss as to what to focus the channel on. Experiments? Covers? Lesson-ish type stuff? I don't know yet. Anyway, thank you!
Epic!!!!! great jam!!!!
Enjoyed the sound of it. The basimilus sounds great, is that the only percussion source you use? What did you use to sequence it? Thanks
The BAI is patched from Mutable Grids as the snare, but it has a huge range. The bass line is from the Metropolis sequencer only. I think the kick here is the Reckless Engineering kick module. Grids is doing all the percussion triggering.
Stevie G thank you, sounds great!!
Epic
Minutes later, I asked myself how long was I zoned out?
Nice job Stevie, great play, cool.... !!! I have made my own impro in Pink Floyd style.. Please check it out if you want to... Cheers from Holland
what should i learn to play like this? Of course practice a ton, but any theory i should focus on learning?
Stevie G Thanks Stevie. Right now I"m trying to get a good handle on the major scale in all positions and delving into modes.
Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous! I've always loved this tune. You did it great justice! Thanks for sharing.
Beautifully done, pal...
