Rollie Tussing - Improvisation on This World is not my Home
I attended Earful of Fiddle camp in Michigan this summer, attending classes and recording video. Rollie was there teaching and I asked if he was interested in doing a little performance/recording in between classes. He played me this improvisation on the tune This World is not my Home (traditional).

Granny Smith Live at the Oculus
มุมมอง 3095 หลายเดือนก่อน
I met Jason Bhattacharya aka Granny Smith at a few shows around town and we had a few close mutual friends. Jason and I naturally wanted to join forces to work on a video. I remembered a spot I always wanted to visit - The Oculus Pavilion on the Humber River Trail. We carried the kit down the trail and filmed a few drum solos. Runners and walkers were loving it.

Frank Evans - Rambling Hobo (Doc Watson)
มุมมอง 3.1Kปีที่แล้ว
This is the second tune that Frank and I filmed while I was visiting his place in Nashville last fall. It's a cool tune and it's the first one that Doc learned from his dad, when he was given a homemade fretless banjo in the summer of 1934.
Frank Evans - Chicken Reel

While I was in Nashville, TN this past September I reached out to Frank to see if he wanted to shoot a video with me. While Frank's curry was on the stove he played two tunes for me. Here is the first one, Ed Haley’s Chicken Reel.

Jaron, Alan and I were all freshly back in town, so we decided to step out and record some videos for their new band, Porch Couch. We picked up some hazardous waste buckets, set 'em down in an abandoned lot and pressed record. Enjoy this fast and groovy version of this traditional tune, Back Step Cindy. fiddle - Alan Mackie banjo - Jaron Freeman-Fox

Back In The Goodle Days (John Hartford) - John Showman & Chris Coole

I met Chris Coole last year and we started a little skill trade since I've become enamoured with the banjo. I told Chris that I recently started this music blog and I'd love to feature him on it. He invited me to Roncesvalles United Church, a spot where he used to play for hours when he didn't have a place to practice. He also invited the talented John Showman along and we recorded a few tunes....
Kat and Brad - Long Time Coming
มุมมอง 1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I stayed in Kat and Brad's cozy home for a few days this October in Mystic, CT. Brad runs a sweet analog studio out of their basement (Bearded Cat Production) while Kathleen plays front-woman in her funky Americana band, Twisted Pine. They also have this cool band together. Brad told me he wrote this song about ten years ago and has been on a constant lookout for someone to sing the other part....

Nice pickin', sounds great! Also, you could pass as my brother's twin.
So crisp! Fantastic playing! 😄
Good shit, beautiful tone!!

Fantastic! Fantastic video too
Lordie!!!❤❤❤❤
They are THE BEST! I love these two! 😄
I know videos can get accidentally speeded up as they are transferred etc. This one is not so bad, only speeded up about 10%. Still you miss some of the nuance of the playing.
So cool!
This channel is incredible. Keep up the good work, extremely professional.
This is possibly my favourite video of clawhammer banjo, from the playing to the equally great camera work, the lighting and visual athletics of the whole video, from the clothing to the house and lighting through the trees. A work of art this!!!
You can’t sit still with all that JOY! LOVELY! Kind Thanks and More Music! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
First time I’ve heard that tune…. Sounds similar to “last chance”… very nice 👍
Wow! 😁
Wow, such incredible energy.
Beautiful
Wonderful music. That was absolutely beautiful.
It doesn't get any better than this!
The juxtaposition of not having a snare stand but then also having a massive bass drum is wild
He has thicc thighs
C'est somptueux !
So good. Bravo!
Hey Tristan. loved this...Thank you so kindly...
really good
Bravi!

It's so cool that this version sounds thoroughly Appalachian old-time in style, but the original version of the song was country/rockabilly.
😥 P r o m o s m
Wow!!! Strong fiddlin'& great backup on banjo!
Her bowing is phenomenal
So dope!
ya Blake!
I’m a couple mins in and I know I’ll watch this a few times and share it around. Love the edit work. ✌🏻from Pennsylvania
Very cool tune - kind of "whisky before breakfast-y" ...and so beautifully performed.
Wow, the way that 5th string is ringing out is incredible!
I didn't really notice till you mentioned it, almost sounds like a sound effect haha. Really awesome, maybe cause he so high up the neck?
You look so happy ☺❤
John Showman is a fiddler beyond comparison. Chris rocks that banjo and the singing is absolutely great.
Yes!
If there ain't banjo & fiddle in Heaven I ain't goin'!
Nice version, son! Thanks!
All i brought was smoke
Just like that, thanks for the randition ✌️😏
