I have always liked the clean simplicity of this design. On holiday in Scotland my parents bought me this camera for my eighth birthday. I was so excited, that was sixty years ago.

Looking at your camera, it has suffered chasis damage 😔 By the looks of it, someone may have hit it to dent in the bottom of the camera below the "Ambassador" branding.

Thanks to your video I was able to fix my Yashica J camera (very similar to the Yashica Minister) that was no longer working. In my case, the camera wouldn't fire because the self-timer was stuck. I initially tried to press the self-timer lever by hand, but it didn't work because of the high gear ratio. Seeing your video I removed the lens you indicated and then I very gently moved one of the shutter blades with a wooden toothpick. I heard the sound of the self-timer mechanism and slowly the shutter opened. After that everything worked like a charm, including the self-timer which, at first, I was afraid to use again. Not a single drop of oil was needed for lubrication. Thank you very much. You did a great job!

This camera was made from 1974 to 1989. This seems to be an export model, because of 1st-Quality-mark on the bottom. My 1984 Beroquick kb135 is essentially the same thing.

its realy automatic point exposure? or any posibility we can set that manualy for f8 / f13?

In 1979 - I had a chance to buy FIVE of these at an Amarillo, Texas camera shop closing for about $100US. But I didn’t. Bought a Minox 110 de luxe kit for my parents. About $80US. The Minox was nothing but trouble after the first 5 rolls. Minox stopped supporting their 110 format line. Any of those 5 Agfas would have been better!

It seems, that this is a later version of the Bilora Radix. The Version from 1948/49, the Radix 1, has no shoe for flash or rangefinder and another plate around the optic.

I'm a sucker for sentimental items that bring back memories. This is the camera my parents had in the 70's as I was growing up. This camera went on all of our vacations to Disney, Circus World, Sea World, Cypress Gardens, Six Flags, etc. Priceless memory. I wasn't sure if this was the model until I found the original yellow box and remembered the image of an older man and young girl on the inside. #priceless to me...

I have same like this Indian made camera y 1957

Thank you for helping me to identify my very first camera. I still have this camera, I used it up until the late 1980's when you could still get 126 film for it. I have the camera, the case, the UV filter that is a push fit on to the lens and also the flash cube adaptor although finding flash cubes these days might be a problem! The camera all still works the shutter is as crisp sounding as it has always been. The plastics have a few scars from being put in to the case but otherwise it's great.

very nice camera but be cautious with the shutter release button that could shoot anytime coz there is no on-off button....

Thanks, great video! Instructive. Although on 00:59, on Bulb, you can see through lens that the aperture blades are not staying open. So, Bulb doesn't work, it seems. But, on the other hand, who cares about Bulb. 😊
