I have the same charger for my 2013 Leaf and today it has the red ring of death. Halo goes red after plugging it in to the wall and fault light is on. Won't charge the Leaf and in fact, the Leaf was showing a yellow triangle caution on the dash until I powered it off and back on again. Today is 12/11/2014. I purchased it from Amazon on 09/22/2013. The stock charger works fine. I suppose I was cursed by Nissan since I went in for my 1 year checkup the guys at the shop asked what kind of charger I had and then said many people have trouble with third party brands. I could buy a second Siemens and still be money ahead. Will attempt to get service from Siemens.

I had a similar problem with my versicharge. But all the lights on the unit stay on. I get a yellow Halo, instead of green. And I get 1 beep from my 2012 Nissan leaf...And no charge. I contacted Siemens via email. Excellent service, New unit is on its way. Free FedEx return label by email for the broken one. Very bizarre that it stopped working for no apparent reason.

Your bad Versicharge is "stuck" in state "B". It thinks the car is connected, but not requesting charge. If the 1 kHz oscillator were turning on, the Leaf would make beeps when you plug the EVSE in. That tells me that your pilot oscillator is not functioning. You've probably already sent the defective one back, but if you, or anyone else, wants to troubleshoot this further, head over to the Open EVSE project. There are EVSE troubleshooting tools you can build for cases like this.

Did you happen to get some info about the root cause?
