Hi, im really not a sale person that could really give you the right advice... but in my experience im not sure it would be perfect for viewing stars... the Infrared wont be able to reflect so far and that would defeat the purpose of having a night vision camera... im not sure what the right camera would be for it, but if you keep searching im pretty sure you will get to the perfect camera for that. In my opinion, i dont think this is it. Cheers

Hi Justin. Yes, it will definitely work. It reflex eyes from very far off so will be easy to spot in night where there is no moon even. Im not a salesman trying to sell you something, bought my own camera.

Hi pal, id recommend the 4.5x . Im not a sales person but we also use mine for hunting jackal on the farm, with the zoom function you don't need more, and as you said... you wont be able to capture close subjects. Im from south africa, so I know what distance is :D . Also the 6x is larger and more expensive. Hope I helped a bit.

The buffelos were captured at +-200m in pitch black light. Our jackal eyes reflex with the infrared light around 500-600m (i never use the infrared on high, it kills the battery and makes videos too white)

@@Harrlond i can't remember exactly :D but i never zoom too much, its not needed. Although you can zoom alot with it, 4.5x is perfect..

Hi, if you set the infrared on hi, its doesn't last very long. But if you set the infrared on medium you can record about +-40mins of video. I actually like it more on medium because it almost reflects too much white one hi. I also started using quality rechargeable battery's and it made a huge difference. I only realized these tips recently. Cheers

I received my z2 today, I'm a little disappointed that it isn't as immersive as I had expected. 😕

@@ebendebod I thought the screen would be closer to the eye, instead it's clearly half way down a tube. Plus the battery life is really bad, 4x fully charged Eneloop Pro batteries lasted me all of 30-40mins.

I found an update at bushnell com which claims the z2 can be powered by a powerbank. Iv just upgraded, havent tested my 6x50.
