Poem For Tommy Robinson: For those whose country is afflicted by todays troubles.
MY COUNTRY IS DYING
I recall to mind barges moored to the banks on the Thames down Erith's way. The wooden jetty, wet and aware, the murmuring gulls that brimmed in air, the splintered railway planks where the barriers poked towards the summer sun at eve, and childhood gleamed like wintered leaves.
One could not know it then but now its children are crying.
And knaves with scythes of ill intent reap its corn and choke its waters.
One can ne’er do more than weep.
A country is dying.
We’d forage the iron spines of yellowed grass for lizards that tricked the fumbling fingers.
Red admirals brushed where the grasshoppers sang,
and grass snakes slithered, fleeing the wafting smoke ignited by our ugly hands.
From the bridged road to the stunted trees, the footpath to abraded knees.
One could not know it then but now the powers that be are lying.
As rogues with sickles of spite and spleen defile its daughters.
One can ne’er do more than weep.
When a country is dying.
As a young man, I soaked in the toil of work, with brethren Irishmen, grim-faced, with pick and shovel, and hammer drill… The sweetest sound my ears think back to… beers and laughter all aflame! Stories sung in freedom’s name.
Dreams of love awash with pain. Vive les anglais!
Yet Charlatans with blades and spikes leave us as paupers.
One can ne’er do more than weep.
When a country is dying.
An old man, lame and bruised of faith am I. A stranger in a foreign land.

Yeah! nice job Lee, can deffo hear the Mclean influence infact your voice is on his level mate or if not better - Love the sound you get from that yammy too I think they work well in the studio - I did read somewhere about top artists using them for studio work incl James Blunt - Well done love it!
