@@71Splinter yea when I first started playing il2 I just assumed from what I've read about heavy fighters being regulated to night fighters, because of there inability to compete with single engine fighters that they would fly like bricks. I have learned to respect them and try not to dog fight in anything with bad turn

@@71Splinter how does flying with a VR headset work when you're using joystick/throttles and/or need to use your mouse?

@codychapple9069 just the same as with track ir no different, I can reach my mouse and know my joysticks by feel, if I really need to I can peak out of the bottom of the headset

I did make some changes the other day, i thought it was jitterbug because its trying to cycle through targets but to to "fixes" it doesn't work right. As for simple lua, I don't have a clue what you wrote. I never learned it so don't use it yet. But im very happy to see you making it better, id love to see what you do with it.

@@71Splinter let me round it down in simple terms: -the game runs in "ticks per second" this can go down due to performance but usually it's 60 (and doesnt matter) -OUTSIDE of the "run onTick (which runs every tick) I set the "index" (how we keep track of the times it has run) to 0. -Inside of the run onTick command I put a script that counts up every time it runs and resets to 0 if it reaches 3 -then I did a few IF statements for every time the index changes

@@71Splinter For example, every time the index changes, I store the distance of a target on a different variable -tableOne -tableTwo tableThree (names aren't important but it helps) then when the index reaches 3 I add all them and then divide it by three to get the average. It could have been a lot smaller if stormwork's crappy way of measuring time didn't exist

I use a rift s, which I use the oculus tool tray and put multisampling to 1.7, all in the gashes post fx make sure the sharpening settings are up. Keep in mind the footage you see isn't captured from the headset but from the monitor so it looks better than in my headset. Let me know how you n get on and if I can help

The thing is, I cannot really distinguish the aircrafts unless they're something around 800 meters away... anything before that, they'll just look like blurry dots, which throws my gameplay haha I can't tell if they're enemies or friendlies. I'm using a Quest 2 at 4480x2272 res from the Quest app. Is it somewhat normal?

@@Julian-hq9hm sounds like a good resolution, I would try downloading oculus tool tray and turning up the multisampling, it hugely increases sharpness and you can for sure identify from further away. Vr will get better but unless your throwing around huge money it ll always be a bit blury for now

I used to avoid it, but as far as far paced sims go, it might be the one that works best in vr , it could be better, could be worse :)

@@glennjones6100 happy to help, its not as tricky as you think, I suggest trying the p 51 to start, easy start up one you get the hang of it, nice to fly

Yea man, these graphics along with low quality video can fool you. when the Russia ukraine war started, someone uploaded low quality footage from dcs and convinced the internet it was a dogfight over ukraine.

Warthunder is one flight sim that plays consistently well in vr, even though its very tricky looking behind, and its more exhausting than other ways of looking around :)

@@71SplinterIf it was me i would use prop pitch to slow down to make you overshoot, then prop pitch auto again and use my better engine in my favour

@@diomic I don't think a lot of pilots on wt use manual, some of these guys put up a good fight, I would like to think id be ready to counter and slowing with a climb or a roll, but who knows xD

I fired on my buddy to trick the enemy behind him into thinking I was on his team, then when I went head on he wasn't expecting me to shoot him because he though I was his ally

@@folftasticgaming7491 I think its awesome when things that happened end up happening in flight sims. Recently in war thunder I managed to recreate Bud Andersons dogfight where the109 stalls behind him, total fluke, I wish I filmed it.

@@71Splinter I used to play a lot of war thunder air sim before I moved to DCS. was a lot of fun

@@folftasticgaming7491 dcs has been my main game for a long time, but the ww2 damage models drive me insane, I like that warthunder is a bit faster paced with progression, and the kills are usually more visually satisfying :)
