Billy Budd associated Shatner with Captaincy (later of the Enterprise) and the film with Peter Ustinov of (poor) decisionmaking as leader (later as Nero in Quo Vadis). How interesting.

The high quality of the dialogue here is entirely due to these early shows having to live up to the great radio shows of the previous couple of decades. You can lay back & listen to this without watching & lose nothing.

I actually laughed out loud when I saw Ed Platt sitting on the bench. I just will never see him as anyone but the Chief of Control. 😊 Pretty sad really as he was obviously a great actor.

This was the best show Shatner did, and I say this not having seen his LA Law performance. This show had lots in common with Doc Hollywood. Would fly well these days I think.
