The Ghana Railway Development Authority's decision to exclude Manya Jorpanya from the naming of a railway station in the town has sparked outrage and disappointment among local chiefs. His Royal Majesty Nene Doctor Tei-Djahene Korabo IV, Senior Asafoatse of the Shai State and Divisional Chief of Manya Jorpanya, has expressed his displeasure and frustration at the authority's oversight.
The chief pointed out that the people of Manya Jorpanya provided land and support for the construction of the railway station, including assistance with electricity expansion. Despite these contributions, the authority failed to acknowledge the town in the naming process.
"We are disappointed and feel disrespected that our town was not recognized," Nene Doctor Tei-Djahene said. "We hope the authority will reconsider and give us the recognition we deserve."
While commending the government and the authority for their efforts in building the railway line and station, the chief appealed for a second look at the naming decision.
