    Awesome. Can I ask what line of golden acrylics you use? Do you always go straight out of the jar or do you ever thin it out with water? I am using SoFlat by golden and can’t use it right out of the bottle or it leaves brush strokes. Have to thin it out and do like 4 or 5 layers to get completely flat. Just curious about your process. Thanks.

      Thank you! I have some Golden heavy body that I like, but do thin it with matte medium. For the most part though, I’ve switched to Nova Color Acrylics. They have a really nice medium body I use straight from the jar and they are a lot more economical but still professional grade!

    ...It's both relaxing and useful watching these capsules... I find them particularly valuable as they deal with composition / design in pure form which, surprisingly, is a rarity in the video clips' world, saturated by information on textural effects (plastic bags, alcohol drops, random pouring, etc.). Another great feature is that the work doesn't look formulaic, but fresh and surprising every time... It's interesting to me that, although the overall design is not planned, the final images are strong and dynamic, yet stable, well balanced. The explanation, I think, resides in the logical use of directions, with some horizontal stabilizers, usually stripes. The site should be much more widely known, in my opinion... A true artist...

  • @PaulWalesArt

    Truly fantastic to watch you work! I’m guessing the intuitive part(s) include the next move or sectioning as well as the colour choice? My style of intuitive is slapping paint on a canvas and then carving something out of it - so the expected, make a mess approach and hope something finally comes out of it! (LOL), So I truly appreciate your commitment, discipline and restraint. It drives me crazy (in the best way) with anxiety wanting to soften edges and make marks with each step you take. Really appreciate your work!

    • @AnthonyRuscittoStudio
      @AnthonyRuscittoStudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I call it all intuitive work because I start with a blank canvas and no plan at all. Whatever happens, happens! I think my technical background drew me into more of the hard edge style, though there was a period where everything was super soft and flowed into each other. I have ADHD, so it’s hard to try and plan things out and I find it a lot more enjoyable and therapeutic to just go with the flow and make decisions on the spot. With this style you can never be wrong 😆

    Looks great! Are you adding medium to your paint? I noticed you use several coats. Any tips for a nice smooth surface?

    • @AnthonyRuscittoStudio
      @AnthonyRuscittoStudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I do use 2 - 3 layers of matte medium to seal the tape before I add the color. It helps eliminate any bleed that could happen. Because of how much I layer my paint, the finished painting usually ends up pretty textured. When you look at one of my paintings up close you can kinda see the “ghosts” of the layers that ended up getting covered. I actually really like the texture, and from far away it’s barely noticeable.

    • @hamsted
      @hamsted 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnthonyRuscittoStudio Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to get less texture in my color fields, well at least less of the brush strokes. So I thought I'd experiment with some mediums to add to the color.

    • @AnthonyRuscittoStudio
      @AnthonyRuscittoStudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hamsted I don’t really have many brush strokes luckily… I think its mostly because of the paint I use. I’ve switched to mostly Nova Color acrylics, they are a really nice medium body paint that tends to resist the burst stokes. I’ve also noticed that if I think the thicker paints with a 50/50 water and medium and then do 2-3 thin coats I’ll also not have to deal with texture from brush strokes. Oh, I also keep a spray bottle with water by my side, and if the paint starts to get to thick and dry out I just hit it with a little mist

  • @jtbmetaldesigns
    @jtbmetaldesigns 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How long did you have to wait until you could tape over the dried paint?

    • @AnthonyRuscittoStudio
      @AnthonyRuscittoStudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I don’t wait as long as I probably should, but so far I’ve been able to get away with it. I just wait until the paint is dry to the touch. I have a couple of fans and a hair dryer to speed up the process. I don’t thin my paint with water and I use a high quality acrylic so I think that’s helpful as well. Some of the cheaper brands or paint that is thinned with water may not stick as well.

    • @AnthonyRuscittoStudio
      @AnthonyRuscittoStudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @johnathancastro24 for this one I believe I used some MTN hardcore and Krylon window frosting… I really like Montana spray paint. They are acrylic based, dry fast, and the colors are awesome. You can also get all kinds of caps for different effects/needs. Don’t get discouraged if things aren’t working the way you hoped at first, there’s a little bit of a learning curve. The more fun you have painting the better your pieces will turn out!

    You put the word "How" in the title of the video. Please show some respect for what that word means. What kind of tape did you use ? When you trimmed the tape, did the ends still overlap ? Was that gel medium you put on, before painting the black ? How many coats of black (2) ? From an instructional point of view, much of this video was a total waste of time. Not subscribing.

      Hey William, I did put the word “how” in the title, but not “how to”. This video was meant to be more of a demonstration of my process… as in how I create my paintings, and not a how to. However, if you look in the comments, I am more than happy to answer any and all questions I get in regards to my painting process, materials used, etc. I have considered doing some “how to” videos, and when time allows I will.
